the way you phrased your query above, the literalist in me is made to think you meant to ask if many of us on WP thought we should be banished ["should be cast-off"] to an island not entirely of our free will. so to answer this possible aspect of your question, i would say that i often have felt "not ready for prime time" so to speak, and that i would be better off cloistered "leper-style" on a private island to stew in my own juices. as long as the island had what i have now [basic shopping, internet, cable tv, temperate weather] i would not miss too much except for the occasional presense of my older sister who is the only person i know on earth who seems to accept me as i am, warts and all.

I'll go, but only if I get internet access and as many books, musical instruments and CDs as I want.

If they give me Internet access, and a drum kit, I'll go, but only if they're willing to bend, that little bit, for me, so I don't have to bend the way I had to, for society, in the past.

So, is this all of us on one island? Or do each of us get our own, private island?

If it's the former, count me out. I have to share my world already, and at least this one has all the "mod cons". If it's the latter, though, you are starting to make a tempting offer. (Assuming a reliable internet connection and computer service).

:)

And I also REFUSE to share my island with anyone other than my son, maybe his dad - (separate thatched hut for each of us. (I like to be alone but i also like their PROXIMITY to me,) and our animals......

Why would anyone want to be a castaway?

Isolation. Peace. The satisfaction of complete self-sufficiency in a natural environment.
