Funny. I do exactly the same thing. It was almost like seeing a picture of my own hand (though the hand looks different.

) In some funny way it's relaxing, though you shouldn't believe it. It might be a sensory thing.
I tend to do it when I am about to sleep, or relax when awake. Or if I sit down eg. on a couch, supporting my body with the curled hand on the couch. It may hurt though if I do it for a long time.
Or I support my chin on my curled hand. I don't flap while curling, though. Just flap with "flat" hands.
