We saw a similar pattern with Mom in the hospital. She hated the place during the day and the only time she got to herself was at night - so she was up all night and sleeping all day. It was awful, because they had a strict rule about staying awake during the day. We moved Mom to a Residence where they told her she could eat and sleep whenever she liked.
I've seen myself do the same, if I don't want tomorrow to come, I stay awake half the night, then sleep during the day.
