I'm glad that things worked out.

surely the deck is all sticky? I'd like to think i would offer to scrub their deck. If they did not notice previously try to make a joke about myself being a fool for doing such if they are the type of people who might find it funny. Difficult to say as i have never met you or your neighbours

Fortunately not only because it's Coke Zero (aspartame, no sugar). CO2 reacts with gum arabic and sucrose in the mentos; hence violatile reaction. Coke Zero is mostly H20. Actually, I've never met my neighbors. And this is not how I'd want to met my neighbors.....sigh. Nice flower garden though. I'll note here they didn't invite me to their bbq. Oh well, I had waaaay more fun with the chemistry experiment alone.

Thank you, CockneyRebel. I wish you were my neighbor. And Ferdinand, and all. Aspies would make the best neighbors. liloleme, yes, I used the WHOLE 2L bottle plus an entire packet of mentos! It is spectacular. Better than fireworks on Memorial Day!

Note to self: Next time wear my lab coat. Makes it look more official

Just don't try it inside your body! There's a video on YouTube of a guy who chugged a bunch of coke and then swallowed Mentos whole. He survived but it looked like he was in a LOT of pain.

I dare you. I double dare you. So worth it 8)

But not on your deck!

Good point about not consuming Mentos with Coke Zero but I imagine one's own body would somewhat neutralize the reaction. It takes a good quantity, relative to the Mentos, to explode.

Could you imagine, though, the guy that did consume that combination? What on earth would he say to the ER doctor?
Does medical insurance cover that sort of accident?

Its an easy mess to clean up when its wet but a nasty one when if dries and gets all sticky we did it at work one time. I hope they do not walk on the balcony in their socks when it driesMy friends made a trebochete to launch tennis balls it was fun to we hit sone guy in the back and he called the cops on us. The police told our parents (We were 16) to tare it down.

^^ It almost aimed itself at the camera man!

Call me evil or whatever but I couldn't stop laughing at the idea of soaking my neighbours with coke! Then again my old neighbours were jerks and deserved a good soaking! One time a group of lads on our estate bought a massive bottle of coke, shook it up as much as possible then ran! You could actually see it shaking and wobbling around for about a minute then BOOM!! ! Our playground was unusable for over a week but it was SO worth it!
