Anybody reading this a Monty Python aficionado /-a? If you are, I just have to mention the Cheese Shop Sketch. One of my personal favorites. If you are not, and can find it, check it out.

Essentially - John Cleese is in a cheese shop trying [in vain] to but cheese. Meanwhile a group of Balkan types are dancing to a very repetitive tune. After a long stretch Brother Cleese lose it and yells at them to shut up.

Aside from the OTHER reasons I love this one, I find it fantastically funny because A. I rather like the tune B. I could listen to it or play it [NOT dance to it] for hours on end C. I know that most NT types would react like Friend Cleese only D. MUCH sooner. Breaks me up every time after all these years.

I like certain opening sequences to some television series, like Carnivale and Six Feet Under, played over and over. Then the music becomes an ear worm and I can listen to it when ever! :D Like a stim, this relaxes me.

I get this phenomenon too. The most recent bit of this for me has been dimrain47's music on the Newgrounds audio portal section. I <3 his techno, even if he did stop making it / putting it up on NG (I don't really know) back in '07. The fact that I went and hunted it down again after 3 years of not listening to it is a testament to that.

Dimrain47 topic

Interesting. The music evokes visuals of fast driving or a computer game on full throttle. It is repetitive but not annoying. My son, who is your age, sometimes listens to this sort of techno music. Thanks for sharing.

Repetition? You want repetitive music? I make repetitive music. If you've ever played Team Fortress 2, or any other online VALVe games on pc for that matter, chances are you've heard of bonk songs. They basically feature the Scout from Team Fortress 2 saying the words "bonk" and "boink" over a song to effectively replace the instruments of the song by changing the pitch of said words. This can easily be done in programs such as FL Studio. Here's an example of one that I made and posted on youtube. The song I used is the The Legend of Zelda Theme Medley by Koji Kondo on his Legend of Zelda Nintendo Sound History album (or something like that). I honestly can't stand repetitive music, it gets annoying, I'd much prefer something which has no repetition except in the instrumental areas such as this:

For those of you who like very pattern-driven music, I would recommend the works of Steve Reich. His earliest works resemble what you hear at the start of the thread; his later works get more melodic.

Also, this piece I find very soothing: "I Know You Are But What Am I" by Mogwai: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VX_-IBcsRtk

I like Daft Punk. Their music tends to be repetitive, but most songs repeat with an added element every once in a while.
Some just repeat without any change however, like this song. I still love the hell out of this song nevertheless.

I like looping the same piece of music when I'm doing stuff on the computer, but when I have to study, I need absolute silence!

I like them too. I'm glad they're doing the soundtrack for the sequel to Tron.
The only song I really don't like by them is "One More Time". If I hear that song ONE MORE TIME I'm gonna scream! Haha.

I find Kinks songs to be very repetitive. That's what I thrive on. :)

I like the Kinks. I think they were a punk band before there was a name for it.
I think Philip Glass is really good at taking repetitive patterns and layering them in increasingly complex ways.
And futhermore...

Phillip Glass can also be quite interesting.

On the heavy metal side, Meshuggah is also pretty cool. :)
