I spoke at the average time. I was taught to read at 2- father was a teacher.
However, yesterday I was reminded of a memory of when I had just turned 5. I had a friend I would play with who lived down the road. One day I had a fight with her, and I was sitting there thinking about how mean she was, so I got some paper out and a pencil, and wrote a letter to her, saying how mean she was and how I didnt like her and how I didnt like it when she said mean things to me. I had her name at the top of the letter and everything.
That evening my parents got a phone call from the girls father saying "My daughter is in tears because of a nasty letter she got from your daughter."
I am surprised they could read it, but thinkiing about it now, most five-year olds are just learning to write, and would never write a letter to someone. It was likely spelled correctly too, though my handwriting would not have been very good. I dont think I had even started school yet..
