Ah, but do you sing with them?

Get on board! Get on board!
Come and join the Double Deckers.
Take a ticket for a journey,
On our double decker London bus.
Ring the bell (ding! ding!),
Toot the horn (honk! honk!),
When you ride with the Double Deckers.
Fun and laughter is what we're after,
On our double double double decker bus.

And other websites.

I've just realised Googling is a fun activity that wasn't available in earlier years.
Whether I fnd what I'm after, or something totally unexpected.

Rummaging in second hand bookshops remains a slower and somewhat different pleasure but similarly, stumbling over something you didn't even know you were looking for is a delight.

Hmmm, not sure, What would be wrong with going back to kids' games like Pass the Parcel, Pin the Tail on the Donkey and Musical Chairs? Despite having very little play development as a kid, they were all games I enjoyed, all nice simple games.

Intellectual debates concerning which country has the best army at the moment.
Political debates.
Lots of computers.
A LAN setup for video games.
A bookcase full of history books, nonfiction+Realistic fiction
A vast collection of interesting items, for me, Guns, especially WWII and WWI weapons.
Trivial pursuit :)
Jeopardy
Military music (March songs, Red Army choir, etc)

They, and I seem to recall particularly "Oranges and Lemons" blighted my childhood: they weren't obvious enough to me, but being simple to others I couldn't get the rules explained in a way that covered my lack of understanding (including why we were bothering to do it at all)

And especially the "non-rules" like how seriously you were supposed to take it, try to win, etc.

It wasn't til I was much older that I discvovered there was a non-joining-in option. It came with a price tag, but sometimes that was worth it.

LAN party is the way to go.

I was at a LAN party once and when they wanted to play a game that bored me to death I persued a game I did enjoy while being in the same room with them. I was still being social, everyone was happy. WIN-WIN. Of course it did help to have friends that loved nothing better than sititng in front of a computer.

:D Good call - especially if you're an aspie who not only loves the sound, you also love being in the car with or without the music (must be a sensory thing with the movement of the car).

edit: on second thought, this is supposed to be an aspie party thing, isn't it? I suppose we could turn the drive into a car rally/scavenger hunt...

This is maybe slightly off-topic (not party stuff), but it goes with the thread title "What do aspies do for fun". I like to catch people off guard by taking verbal jokes to another level. The other people, being NT, sometimes find it a little weird but they usually get a good laugh at least. Here's an example from a couple of days ago...

It started when my husband John called his friend Rob on the phone. When Rob answered, John said (joking around) "Hello, I'm calling from the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Do you have a heart you'd like to donate?" Rob politely declined, and then they had a regular conversation. They made tentative plans for us to hang out with Rob and his wife that evening, but Rob had to call his wife at work first to make sure it was ok with her.

When Rob called us back a few minutes later, John answered the phone. "Heart and Stroke Foundation, this is John speaking." Rob said, "Hello, I'm calling because I need a heart." John said "Well you're in luck! We happen to have one right here. When would you like to take delivery of that heart?" After that they carried on with regular conversation again and made plans for John and I to go to Rob's house that evening to hang out.

Then I got a brilliant idea... you know those mini coolers that hospitals use when they're transporting an organ? We have one like that (John uses it to take his lunch to work). We cleaned it out and made a small red water balloon (about the size of a human heart), then packed the 'heart' in the cooler with ice and took it with us to Rob's place when we went there later. When we arrived John went to the door and when Rob answered, John presented the cooler and said "I've got a very special delivery from the Heart & Stroke Foundation. We've found you a heart!"

Unfortunately we didn't get the initial response I was hoping for - Rob had been napping and the doorbell woke him out of a dead sleep, so he was really confused. He and his wife both got a good laugh though when they figured out what was going on.

We've done things like that to other friends before (always my idea) - taking verbal jokes to the next level, making them more literal and concrete. Always lots of fun planning it and carrying it out.

Parties? Forget it. I can't stand them. I get disoriented in crowded situations. Nor do I like the chaotic atmosphere. I like a rather calm atmosphere, or an atmosphere that I have some level of control over. Too many people at parties leads to extreme chaos. It's easier for me to be at party situations wherein I know the people. I have trouble with and feel very uncomfortable insinuating myself into social situations. And I find myself getting very bored.

But the high pitch sound of being close to the tv is another thing.
If i stand close to it together with a non AS person i wil go crazy because it's so loud in my ears while they wil barely notice it.
I guess everyones different regarding sounds.

Yup.
