Absolutely! It's so bad, that I had a statement printed on my driver's license about Autistic eye contact, so that hopefully the police won't always hold me there for hours trying to figure out what I'm using, when all they might pull me over for is a burned out tail light or something.

Only slightly off-topic: I saw one of those annoying chain emails the other day purportedly written by a cop, going on about people who carry firearms in their vehicles, but what got my attention were his remarks about how when he pulled someone over, he immediately considered lack of eye contact to indicate that the person is either CRAZY or HIDING SOMETHING, and that made him much more likely to order them out of the vehicle and search for contraband. In his words, lack of eye contact more often than not, led to "further altercations and arrests" - notice he did not say "evidence of a crime" - just that he's more likely to bully and intimidate someone who doesn't look him in the eye. If he bullies someone with Autistic processing issues and they have a meltdown, he'll just beat the crap out of them and throw them in jail.

Just more evidence of how critical it is that we get information and education out there on AS and HFA. Morons like this guy are liable to shoot somebody for being Autistic.

even if we get the info out there and spread awareness, this kind of BS will always happen. Its a simple explanation really, something called being human. Makes me further want to modify myself to the point where I cant be considered human :/

Someone at work a couple weeks ago made a comment that i seemed like i was high, because i'm usually kind of "monotone" and have a blank expression and stuff.

Then one time some lady in a waiting room asked me if i was on drugs when i got my septum piercing.. 8O I don't know what that was about, but i've never been on any non-prescribed drugs.(unless you count caffeine and small amount of alcohol)

I do the same thing, for the same reason. It's what allowed me to blend in with the stoners in high school and, subsequently, what gave me the opportunity to actually get stoned.
haha yeah.
i used to smoke pot for a bit. Never liked it all that much.
But it was so easy to get from people for free because they'd want to smoke with me because they thought i'd be a chill stoner buddy because of my looks and laid back attitude

People always assumed I smoked pot in high school although I never had touched the stuff.

I still get the occasional friend or customer at work who asks me where they can score drugs.

I dont do drugs yet people who I have always gotten along with people who do. Funny how things work out. Maybe people who are high are less aware that I am different.

Hey this is interesting, because people would think i'm stoned in high school. Is that related to Aspagers Syndrome? Strangely on a form, someone wrote I had Apspagers Sydrome, I had to ask someone else what it was... Anyway I don't usually mind what people think...

But the other day, I tried to get into a bar!! The guy said, how much have you had to drink,, I said nothing,.. And the bouncer was sure that i was smoking weed. I asked him what do you think I have had? and he said weed. I said my eyes are not red, that's just me.. Anyway I complained to another security guard and they didn't let me.. I thought that sucks....

Maybe i need to have something written on my ID too...

Me too, I used to be called Dopey when I was still at school.

I get searched and my belongings swabbed at airports almost every time I travel.

I've been told many times that I look stoned, buzzed, dazed, vacant, sleepy, out to lunch and so on. That along with my dyspraxia would probably cause me to flunk most visual sobriety tests :)

A classmate in highschool used to rib me for being a druggie, and for being 'spaced out' all of the time even though I never touched any drug.

Had no friends and was never involved in any typical teenage activities- good, bad, or in between back then.

Later I did fall in with the stoner crowd before outgrowing that.
