doesn't know how to play with toys (is this a common thing)

I didn't play with toys the proper way.

It doesn't have to be AS, it can also be mental age. I had lego but I saw them as uses for building stuff, not flying around with those ships.
I saw toys as just that: toys. Making fantasy worlds for them just seemed silly to me. I mostly had action figures and kinda used those for display rather than playing with them. Most of the time I just played video games so I didn't have that many toys.
