I was never a real extrovert, but I used to be too talkative (including e-mails). This had the typical negative consequences which people on the spectrum are familiar with. I learned to stop by repeating certain phrases in my head, especially when I got the urge to say something or contact someone. Phrases like, "I am usually better off when I keep my mouth shut", and the classic maxim, "It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt". After years of practice, I am now very quiet, although I occasionally slip up when I am very tired and stressed. :?
