I would imagine the procedure's far easier and probably more organised in the US with private healthcare! (I could be wrong!)

To Cocorock - Thanks for that, yes I will pm you in August then to see how you got on and all the best with it. :thumleft: I did make initial contact with them about procedures, prices etc and they were very quick. I'm like you in that I'm a woman, intelligent, creative, and married (and have 3 children) and therefore according to GPs, I don't need a diagnosis. So I've never been through an NHS process, that's why I'm considering going private. I don't need a diagnosis with day to day help, like you it's more for my own need to officially know and put past events in the correct context - and for help with my future job prospects. My 6 year old boy (who is being referred at the moment) is like a clone of me behaviourally when I was a child and I can understand him and where he's coming from, thank God. I'm just running out of puff trying to make and keep friendships, all to no avail and at 34 I'm giving up and concentrating on my family and if I make some friends in that frame of mind, it's a bonus. I think I have Aspergers and not just traits of it, I would be very surprised if another diagnosis is made, but anyway I'm very interested to see how you get on. Thanks for your advice and for being so quick! :D

To Missymisfit - It's just really cool to chat with someone who is in a similar circumstance. :D

Please excuse the double post.

I said I would like to respond to how I found the Hoffmann Foundation to be. I still would like to do so. But I am leaving this forum. I just can't handle the attitude that I've come up against here (from some), where I'm labelled an 'NT' and considered inferior. It's bothering me so bad, I'm likely to lose my temper in real life and get into trouble. I'm furious and hurt. It feels like pain. Such irony.

Ok, but I wanted to be able to tell missymisfit about the Hoffmann Foundation, later on. So I'll PM you with my email address and you are welcome to use that to discuss the Hoffmann Foundation. That is ok.

Cheers. It was nice chatting to here. Thanks for your advice etc, people, it's been really appreciated.

You said somewhere else that you realise that people with ASD are just as prejudiced as anyone, and that really sums it up. Some threads really bring out the worst in people.

This forum provides a lot of useful information, even if you just lurk on it. There is a lot of expertise to answer questions, and a lot of opportunity to vent frustrations and share things. I hope you will continue to contribute.
