I think its the fact that im not normal enough to fit in with cool kids, im not slu*ty or druggy enough to fit in with losers and im not weird enough to fit in with geeks and nerds, and im not dorky and old fashioned enough to fit in with people who like doing things the old fashioned way.


That really sucks :(

I also don't fit any of those parameters. My friends in HS were X-Files fans. We liked writing stories, drawing and talking about aliens and music.

You're lucky, as I didn't fit in with any group. I don't even fit in with the others at the AS social group that I attend.
I always seem to be the one left without finding any friends in these types of situations. As much as I like doing my own thing, I can't pretend that I don't get lonely. I guess this is one of the reasons why I think I'm not human. Others find people that they have things in common with, yet even if I talk to someone with the same interest as me the conversation never moves beyond the interest and a friendship is never formed. I just don't know why I don't connect with people. Yes I have AS but it's like it's more than that preventing me from making friends.

That makes me feel sad :( It is pretty hard for me to connect with people on any kind of deep level. I don't know why, but I was lucky to make the friends I did.

Maybe you have some sort of intimacy issues that need sorting out.

I have a lot of trouble making friends with NT, but I do find it easyier making friends with others on the Autism Spectrum.

I never know what people mean when they say 'intimacy issues'. I'm going to have to google it now.

Yeah, but people like that are not friends. They are "people you sometimes associate with". I got rid of such people way back in life because they only acknowledged that they knew me when their computer was broken and like in your situation, never called when it was time to go out.

When you find a friend or two that seem to stick with you the entire life, you have found true friends.

It seemed I gravitated towards the troubled kids in school.
ie. foster care kids, kids who had anger management issues etc.

Ohhh yes. I went to this stupid camp thing for a week once. At first everyone was nice to me, but within mere days I had become the odd one out. Considering this was in an environment where I was pretty much forced to socialise, I hated it.
