My late grandfather, who lived through the Great Depression, used to eat chicken bones after he finished the meat. He lived on a farm and presumably didn't want anything to go to waste. It was weird though. We'd be eating chicken for dinner, and there would be nothing left on his plate once he finished.

There is something primal about gnawing on a big piece of meat on the bone. I love it.
