I had a very happy childhood. I look back on those years with strong feelings of nostalgia and a desire to return to them. I had loving parents, a little brother who was my constant companion, and a ton of toys and video games (though my favorite thing to do was use my imagination). Also, I grew up during a time when there were very good cartoons on TV.

Everything was so new and exciting to me when I was a kid, and every day was an adventure. My mind was so innocent; I wish I could go back to the days when I didn't know anything about sex. Sure, I struggled with bullies, anxiety and OCD, but all of that paled in comparison to all the good times I had.

Its trying to quantify entire periods like that as being 'happy' or 'unhappy' that leads to self-pity and misery. Life is life. Let it be.

I feel I can be fairly objective about whether the bulk of my early years tipped the scales one side or the other. It doesn't make me unhappy because I've already integrated my feelings about it.

If you don't want to go there, that's fine.
