Perhaps women have a bigger tendency than men to have "on-line discussion foruns, like WrongPlanet" as a special interest.

I voted male suspected ASD. I have had six neuropsychological evaluations in my life and I
was not officially diagnosed with an ASD.

Based both on my personal observations and those of all the psychologists who administered these tests,
I do exhibit the general characteristics of NVLD. Since NVLD is not yet an official mental disorder, my Axis-I
diagnosis is usually LD-NOS. On Axis-II, i've been diagnostic with either schizoid or schizotypal personality
disorder. These "cluster A" personality disorders do have some behavioral commonalities with ASD/PDD.

Since many experts consider NVLD and Asperger's to be one and the same, this is why I choose suspected
ASD.

I wish there was an option for almost diagnosed, my therapist is trying to talk to my psychiatrist about diagnosing me. But anyway I'm a girl that at least has AS-traits.

I'm male and I had to wait 45 YEARS for a diagnosis!

I think you missed what she was really looking for. She's not trying to get a sample of Aspie population. She's looking for a sample of Aspie population on this forum. She seemed to think, with good reason I think because I've gotten the same impression, that there are more females here than males. This is the best way to determine that, though there are a couple of things that could throw of the results.

One: The samples are voluntary
Two: Very few people will answer
Three: (No offense to the OP, but this is more than likely true), the OP probably doesn't know how to create the curve and/or the error percentage from the results.

Still, it's the best available option. 8)

Edit: woo woo! 96 results already! That's not a half bad sample at all!

Edit again: There is one other thing that can throw off the results here, and should be considered. If women are just more active on the forum than men, it will give an incorrect impression that more women are here.

Dangit! I said Male, suspected ASD but I meant to put Male, self-diagnosed ASD.

I think this is a very possible explanation.

My diagnosis wasn't much of a surprise, anyway, since I spent two and a half years in a special ed preschool before starting kindergarten. My parents had always known there was something wrong with me.

I suspect a a higher percent of the women on this site do not have AS. I think some of the women are here because they are in relationships with Aspies, have friends who are Aspies, or have family members or kids with AS. Some guys are here because of that but I think those rezones are more common with the women.

I was diagnosed by one psych as being an Aspie but she did not perform an official test & when I was officially tested; I was diagnosed as Schizoid & lots of other contradictory things. I am NOT self-diagnosed sense my mom suspected I had autism sense I was a toddler but I do not have an official diagnoses either when it comes to qualifying for social-services/programs specifically related to autism. Yet I have most all the same issues & problems as someone with AS. I should have an official diagnoses but lots of docs here are are d!cks who believe that AS is a less extreme form of mental retardation. I'm not sure what to vote on this poll.

My parents always knew there was something wrong with me, but I was just so smart that they decided to completely ignore all the weird stuff.

Hm... Looks like it's evened out. Now the male percentage is slightly higher. At first the female percentage was a lot higher... I think that MrXxx might be on to something saying that the females might just be more active... Because, that *would* make it seem like there are more at first but then would even out since you can only vote once. I suspect it might get closer to the expected results if we wait for more people to get around to voting.
