Rambling is just another form of stimming IMO. I enjoy a good long post, shows people care what they are talking about - even if half the time is spent attempting to get to the point. :D

I don't get annoyed with your posts, Mick. I never do. In fact, I enjoy them. I'm your #1 fan. :)

I sympathize and I have no problem with others sharing their interests here where it's safe. :) It took me a long time to learn how to "hide" my interests to where I didn't put people off, and I would say I didn't have a handle on it until I was 21. Without the Internet as a release valve...I would feel BONKERS.

To sum up? You're just fine...don't worry! :)

I slip up like that too. Someone could say something about a species of ape or something about evolution, and I just might be in the mood to give you a lecture

Cool! My 12 year old daughter is into apes :) She lectures ppl all the time. Of course she isn't nearly as tolerant of my special interests as I am of hers, but that's maturity related :)

I want to become a primatologist as well! Either doing field research or working in a sanctuary.
My favourite species is the bonobo (pan paniscus) with the chimp a close second.

Wow...my daughter is the only one I've met before who wants to become a primatologist, and in my work I meet a lot of young people. My daughter teaches me a lot about apes, and one of my undergraduate majors was biology :)

I quite enjoy asking people questions, along with answering questions. I also really enjoy making and answering polls. It's fun for me to gather information on people, along with finding out people's opinions on certain topics. Some people say I should be a reporter.

Keep posting about your interests... I will.

If i don't like your interests, I don't have to read 'em...
If you don't like my interests, you don't have to read 'em.

I'm sure if i really hated your interests I could create a script to hide your posts from the page... but don't worry I won't do that.

irl... I don't talk about most of my interests... few people want to hear about the nature of consciousness or memetic theory and how it defines a self. And they sure as heck don't want to hear why religion is destroying humanity. So, unless someone opens a door and/or i'm in a really foul mood, I try to keep them locked up... It kills me, but i do it anyways. I pay for it when I let them slip out... not sure what's worse... the tension and stress of bottling them up, or the cost of bringing them up.

If not for the internet, and places like WP where I can feel free to talk about whatever I want to talk about... I don't know... I just don't think i'd be able to cope. Writing thoughts on loose paper which has half filled my sock drawer just doesn't cut it like WP. And with WP i get feedback... which I crave... positive OR negative. If my theories were 100% sound I wouldn't be writing about them, i'd have moved on... I crave constructive criticism... in the real world.. all I get is destructive criticism.

I'd be interested to know if my slip-ups were less when i'm actively on a place like WP. Might ask some friends if i've "gone off" less in the last few months. Blah, I'd never work up the nerve... they'd likely just think it was a precursor to me going off on a rant about something or another.

No! Why would anyone on here think that was annoying? We all do it, too!
You are a well-respected regular around here. I don't think a thread would be complete without something from youthat it is relevant to the original topic but is still about the 1960's or the kinks! Don't ever think it's annoying to us!

CR comes across as one of those genuinely nice people that you rarely meet in life, that's saying a lot if you ask me.
