I hate it when people put it under tables. I chew gum on planes.

Gum? I can take it or leave it. I can't resist the urge to swallow it a few minutes after putting it in my mouth.

I thought that some aspies may chew gum as a stim, but I've chewed all sorts of things besides gum, including pen tops, erasers, rubber stoppers, whatever. I've even chewed paper and swallowed it on a few occasions, not the whole page, but like a couple of small shards. Nowadays, I don't find myself putting too many things in my mouth unless under extreme stress.

I hate chewing gum as well! It doesn't taste nice, it makes me sick because I think I'm actually eating something not just chewing and just having something in your mouth constantly makes it all icky and disgusting in my opinion. I ate it a few times when I was young because it was around when my parents had some or their friends did so I used to eat it and swallow it. I hate it how people just chuck it on the ground as well because someone always steps on it (usually me) and then has gum stuck to their jeans and shoes and its horrible to get off. I remember I once stepped in gum when I was wearing socks and it's still on those socks Plus it's horrible when you pull out a table or chair in a classroom and there's chewing gum on.. Not to mention the noise and look of people who are chewing it! Ugh!

i don't chew gum. although i do have dum dum (a pacifier) and a tether which i chew all the time i can. when i am feel stresed biting my teather make me feel better and ready for a good snuggle and lion time.

Yeah, I *really* hate gun chewing, too. Never thought of it as linked to AS, though. Maybe it is? It's mainly the sound of the chewing, I really can't stand the sound of people who eat with their mouths open, either.

What has happened is that on occasion, I seem to have disturbed people by the emphasis I've put on how much I hate gum chewing. Attending meetings is painful enough for me, without sitting between 2 gum chompers for 3 hours! So I just had to say, in the meeting, that I found gum-chewing totally out of order in an alleged professional workplace. That I found it as offensive as smoking (which was also deemed OK not too long ago). And that if I was CEO I would ban it, along with alcohol, smoking and punching the boss. etc etc.

What gets me is the herd mentality thing. OK, I did go into a diatribe, but it would have been fine if directed against someone smoking in the office. I believe that most people find gum chewing offensive, you just can't step over that invisible line in your criticism.

Chewing gum is really gross. Chewing gum I the most.

i like gum when i'm out and about, it gives me something to focus on when walking around to relieve my self conciousness and form a persona, also I buy the teeth whitening gum which is a bonus!

Than i couldn't be bothered buying new gum so i haven't since

I hate gum. I hate the noise of people chewing it, and it really doesnt do much for me.

Everyone knows not to chew gum around me..it just really gets to me. And very quick.
