I like to think there excists a 'me' who doesen't have autism, has the same artistic and intellectual gifts, who's a rational, somewhat introverted person - yet a person who is able to enjoy the aspect of human relationships and emotions without being overly social and overly emotional. Maybe it's wishfull thinking, but I don't want to let some weaknesses (yet significat weaknesses) define who I am as a person. After all the brain is flexible (to some extent) and change IS possible and DO happen as we grow up, change enviroment, experience and realize new things, yet you're still the same person you were years ago even though your personality has changed drastically.
