The OP is downplaying actual rape. Whether he intended to do this is unknown, but the results are the same.

I agree. I've noticed this is a common thing lately. People label something basically trivial or not that bad with something truly horrific just to make the point that they think it's bad. It used to be "nazism", now it's "rape". It's really uncalled for. One can put forth the idea that something is really offensive to them without having to resort to calling it something like rape.

I don't care how much smokers offend you. I can guarantee the feeling is NOTHING like rape. Not even CLOSE. Ever.

Exactly.

Oh good lord... it's McDonald's job to make money. Targeting children is a good marketing strategy. Parents just need to suck it up and learn the word 'no'.

It's not rape if you yell 'surprise'.

Just like it's a pedophile's "job" to rape children.

What parents NEED to do and what many of them WILL do are entirely seperate matters.

Meanwhile...corporations just get the green light to exploit children when their parents fail to what is right by them.

I fail to see how this state of affairs is morally acceptable.

I fail to see why corporations should be permitted to engage in every anti-social practice imaginable simply because it's their "job" to make money.

Most Americans would crucify the drug dealer who tried to sell heroin to their children.

Is a constant diet of foods high in fat, cholesterol, sugar, carbs, etc...REALLY that much less unhealthy than heroin addiction?

We all realize that "parents should do their job".

Parents also shouldn't allow their children to wander through shopping malls alone because they may get picked up by a
child predator.

But....parents often fail to "do their job" in this respect and the one in question.

This doesn't give pedophiles the right to target children though.

Nor should it give McDonald's the right to target children.

I don't think that's a good analogy.

1)the damage that child molestors do to children is significantly worse than the damage fatty foods does to them (there seems to be a consensus that the rape comparison was really ill-advised)

2)I can't 100% protect my daughter against predation. I do what I can but I can't make it foolproof. However I can protect her 100% against McDonalds. All I have to do is say "no".

A pedophile is not in the same category as McDonald's. Not even close. Neither is a drug dealer.

Sure, fast food is unhealthy but it's not going to kill you or cause irreparable damage from one consumption like heroin can.

Then again, I may be the wrong person to debate this point since I believe making any drug illegal is unconstitutional.

So that's all it takes to demonize the heroin dealer and give McDonald's carte blanche eh?

This is pretty arbitrary "reasoning" on your part LeekDuck.

Truth be told....long-term heroin addiction might be LESS destructive overall to the human body than long-term intake of high
amounts of fat, sugar, etc....

"the strange, shady, red haired man hung about in the alleyway, just around the corner from the school. He faced away to avoid suspicion from the residents across the street as he sloutched in his trenchcoat , as the schoolbell rang he sprung into action without moving a muscle.

Fourteen year old James Frederick walked out of school, he was not thinking really. But then again who does on the way back from school. He simply had his mind on walking. He walked round the corner, his spare change changled in his pocket. The Predator lept into action

'Hey!, Hey kid' said the strange man. James continued to walk 'Hey you' Called the Stranger again, James stopped and tooked around, there he saw in the alleyway the strange red haired individual. He then felt slightly confused, for the Red haired man was wearing make up, alot of it. On closer inspection james realised that this man looked like a clown.

'What do you want?' asked James, 'You wanna see something cool kid?' the ever-so serious clownlike man asked. He looked like a clown but he had sunglassses on. 'Ok then?' said james with caution. 'Excellent' Said the strange man 'the names Ronald, by the way, Ronald McDonald, heres my number' Ronald handed james a card.

'Why would I want this?' Asked james, 'Oh youl see' explained ronald 'I sell Fast food see'. 'Whats that?' Asked james, 'Its food that you can get and eat quickly, you know that kid?' Explained ronald. 'no' said James, still confused. 'You got extra cash kid?' Asked Ronald? 'Yeah' said James, 'Good' said ronald.

Ronald Flew open his trenchcoat to reveal lots of pockets on the inside, and also his strange one piece uniform. Silver, Yellow, and red, and made with some sort of strange man made fabric, He had a badge with the simple letter, 'M'. Ronald reached into one of his pockets, and took out a strange box. 'How much money you got kid?' asked ronald. 'I have £2' said james.

'Since your a new customer ill give you a discount' said Ronald 'Now this, this is a Quarter Pounder'. James Exclaimed'A Quarter..!' 'Shush kid Shush!' Whispered James, 'We dont want the police to find out we are dealing Fast Food!'. 'Ok then?' Said James, Still confused, James was an overall gullible child.

'Here' Said ronald 'Take it, look inside'. Ronald handed over the strange box to James, James opened it, Inside the box was a strange inflated circular sandwich, with some sort of steak inside, James was impressed. 'Woah!' Said james 'Its like nothing ive ever seen!'. 'Yeah Yeah kid' Said Ronald 'You want it?'. 'Sure Do!' Said James, 'Great' Said Ronald 'Thatde be that £2 now'. James handed over the money 'Thanks Sir' Said James. 'Your welcome kid' said Ronald 'But next time thatle be £5, If your Lucky'. James took his prize and ran off exited, ready to try this new thing he had discovered called 'Fast Food'. As he ran away, Ronald McDonald whistled a tune as he counted his profits 'Im Lovin' it' He said to himself.

That night James ate the Quarter Pounder, Soon he was hooked. Again and again he went back to Ronald to buy more and more types of fast food. He had become addicted, addicted to a high he got whenever he ate the food, addicted to the High Cholestoral"

8O Jesus Christ i got carried away, but you get my point, drugs do not equal fast food

Second-hand smoke pisses me off -- it's a continual problem where I live right now -- but comparing it to rape is just overwrought and not helpful or logical.

Also, this thread is crazy.

You made all sorts of awful grammar mistakes, Leekduck. Still, you are a hero now, though maybe not the kind I'd ever aspire to be.
