StuartN might be right; maybe we should try to encourage the threads to flourish in the bustle of General Autism Discussion.

This forum already has a subforum for speculation--it's called Politics, Philosophy, and Religion.

You are very generous.

From my experience at WP, almost a year now, most of the 'discussion' in 'General' and 'Random' is speculative.

I agree with katzefrau, but I'm worried about cluttering up the forum with a lot of subfora that no one ever looks at.

The scientifically-oriented topics in the general, and scientific contributions to many threads in the general forum, interest me. I think that they would die of neglect if they were partitioned into a geek ghetto.

I tend to agree here... the General Autism Discussion forum should be sufficient. I have only about 3 or 4 main groups that I read.. add this, and I may not read it... or more likely I will read the general forum less.

I think a lot of people will miss the threads that would be otherwise posted in this forum.

I'm really excited about the prospect of an "autism-science" subforum, as it's a subject I'm sincerely very interested in. :)

But scientific discussion deserves to be held to higher standards than anything that can be labelled "General" or "Random" discussion. Nor should it be politicized, philosophized, or dogmatized. Along those lines such a forum should be governed by the strictest of guidelines and ruled with an iron fist--how's that for generous? :)

My comment about the PPR forum was an attempt at humor. :) For the sake of diplomacy, I officially retract that comment. :) From now on I will be less generous and more specific. :)

I love you Dr. Lechter.
