I always try to make jokes with words, rather than jokes that make fun of other people or their social stations because

1) I don't want to make anyone be mad with me for making fun of them or someone they know.
2) I wouldn't want anyone to make Aspie jokes against me (and I'm no hypocrite).

I think anyone who makes jokes at the expense of someone else's feelings is pathetic.

Gluttony and sloth are not eating disorders, they're mortal sins.

Its actually the 30 year old living in his parents' basement and working a menial part-time job who's more likely to have the disorder, which would probably be AS.

Tell that to the millions of people who tune in to watch Jay Leno do it every night. His favorite words are "Idiot!" and "Moron!"

Ridiculing others has become the lynch pin of stand-up comedy these days, in lieu of having anything intelligent or genuinely funny to say.

That's what I am talking about.

Again, I know a lot about health/fitness. From talking to personal trainers and nutritionist, I can honestly say that ANYONE can lose about 70-100 pounds in a matter of one year.

You can't just go out and work your butt off for a year and then get a 40k a year job...

Also, as this thread continues I am going to get the "You're comparing Apples to Oranges" analogy.

I am not as:

-Both are two things that are socially frowned upon.

-Both can be improved upon.

I had been tempted to make my fat bullies cry with fat jokes but for some reason, I just didn't do it.

I wish I had a high metablism and fat people can't always lose weight either. Plus I think getting that thing you mentioned is expensive.

True. It frequently takes 4-5 years of working your butt off to get a better paying job.

I know how you feel. I get plenty of vitriol for being thin and healthy, yet it's 'wrong' to mock fat people. Not that I want to mock anyone, but I hate how I get s**t for my healthy build while the fat girl next to me can choose to get no exercise and eat pizza all day and no one is allowed to joke about it.

My husband is overweight and he works on his feet for 8 hrs and he doesn't even eat much. Guesswhat? He is still fat. He has lost weight but now it seems to have slowed down.

People can say eat less food and you will lose it. But that only works with young people, not with older adults because their metablism changes. It slows down. Also it won't work with anyone if they have thyroid problems or slow metablism or none or if they have something wrong with their body that keeps them fat and makes them gain gain gain.

Also some of them have an eating disorder and depression so they end up eating a lot. I will never understand it. Yeah I know their brain releases a chemeical telling them to eat but do they have to do it? Do they have to listen to it? Only eat three times a day and ignore your mind telling you you're hungry again. You're not hungry. See I will never understand why people give in and eat than ignoring it. So I see it as their fault and they made that choice and I have no sympathies for them being obese. I will never make fun of them of course.

Anyway I don't care how big people are and what they consume, it's their business and their choice. I don't go out and judge every fat person I see.

In the media it always says people are obese due to over eating or eating too much fast foods or junk food but that is wrong. Not everyone is fat due to that and people learn the wrong thing about obesity. However I do believe that's why most people are fat. But I don't understand why doctors make it an issue and society. I know food companies and fast food chanes don't care because money is all they care about. But people suing them for their weight is rediculous. They don't force them to come and eat at their restaurant and who says they have to go there all the time? Just try a new food they advertised and be done with it. Don't have it all the time.

It's even the parents job to decide what their kids can consume. I am amazed how people try and blame commericals on childhood obesity and characters being advertised on junk food such as Shrek on Twinkies and chips. I just smirked at it and said I grew up with those commercials and I still didn't eat unhealthy because our mother wouldn't let us. She still let us have some candy and junk food but she was tough and always said no. I think parents just want their jobs to be easier so they will complain about it because they don't want to put up with their kids begging them for that stuff and then giving them guilt trips when they say no. My mom used to say she is a mean mother.

Can I feel sorry for kids who are overweight? Oh yes because they don't know any better and it's the parents job to teach them to eat healthy.

I don't get the whole "Be sensitive about fat people" thing.

I am not skinny anymore, and I don't expect people to feel sorry for me. I should get off my fat arse and do more. I should get off my fat arse and eat less.

Maybe its because people expect fat people to cry or have a go at them or something.

I was a naturally skinny kid and the amount of sh*t I copped for it was out of this world, and that was ok to them, yet its not okay to make fun of or bully fat people.

As for the job, I don't actually know of anyone who makes fun of people for having a bad job or living at home. "Haa hahha you live at home" - never heard it before.

People are under misconceptions about how they should lose weight. Working for 8 hours on your feet won't do anything. Thats not excersise. It's just working on your feet. To move huge amounts of fat over short periods of time you have to do things like run marathons.

Same with eating less. People should change their diet to more lean proteins and not eat less.

I'm overweight because I'm on antipsychotics, anti depressants and a mood stabiliser. If I had to choose between being sane or being skinny, I'd choose sane anytime.

And I am ignoring my hunger pangs, because I know they're not real, and I am excercising when my mood and panic attacks let me. I've lost a few kilos since I've been conscious of my weight gain, but I have to be honest... it's hard for someone to lose weight when they don't have a mood disorder, ocd, anxiety and aspergers... so have some sympathy with me, even if it is "my fault" I'm fat.

I used to feel morally superior to fat people. I suppose the joke's on me now.

I never have felt morally superior to fat people but certain fat women in the past have been antagnostic. I thought it was because they were unhappy about their weight and taking it out on me. I wouldn't say anything rude to someone just because of what they look like, they have to say something rude and hateful to me first. If someone is nice, I don't insult them by calling them fat or ugly.

I absolutely agree. I would never treat fat people like they are a lesser person, but I will have a go at them if they are bitchy to me for simply not being as fat as them.
