I don't think there's really a snappy catchphrase that can explain this. Some people are desparate to fit in, others aren't. I didn't care if I fit in or not during high school, now I'm a bit more aware as to how people perceive me and I adjust accordingly. Not too much though, don't want to lose my personality all together. :D

That should be in the autism rule book.

If anything, I would think the statement applies LESS to people with ASD since social pressure seems to have less influence on how people with autism behave.

not necessarily: one thing I can flat-out tell the majority of folks here who are desperate to learn social skills to "fit in": deal with it guys: no matter what you tell yourself, you don't sound even one iota as smooth as 007 when you're in conversation, ok?

Wouldn't that depend upon the individual ASD person? We aren't all exactly alike. Some of us maybe be smoother than others.

smoother yes, but don't forget he also has the "aura" that attracts people; we don't...or do you forget this?

I disagree, because some people might have the "AURA" whether they are on the Spectrum or not. Maybe a lot of us with ASD don't have it. But I seriously doubt that you KNOW EVERYONE on the Spectrum, to allow you to truthfully make the statements above. And don't patronize me, I'm not a small child, I'm an educated adult. :)
