It depends on what you're meaning.

Taking a bath or taking a shower in order to get clean on a schedule is completely different than just taking a bath or a shower because I want to.

I'm obsessed with water. I function much better around water. If I'm getting upset enough at myself an overly hot shower is the only thing that can help, and baths with my kindle are really good for me.

However, I can't deal with getting dressed after I showered, and have a hard time with the washing part of the shower. I sometimes can't deal with the scent of even shampoo. If I'm not completely dry when I'm getting dressed my skin feels wrong.

So, in order to get clean, difficult. In order to just be in a shower, not at all.

I'd gotten over my sensory issues a long time ago. Even then, water was never one of my issues. Actually, I get yelled at at home for taking too long of a shower

I hate bathing or showering and have to psych myself up for it. The things I specifically dislike:
- The feel of soap. I never use bars of soap; only bodywash or shower gel.
- Steam.
- When your fingers get wrinkly from the water.
- Wet hair.
- Not being able to get all the shampoo out of hair and it ending up slimy.
- Drying off.

It's just a big chore in general. When I do wash, I sit in a couple of inches of lukewarm water and get it over with as quick as possible.

I'm somewhat uncomfortable with the sensation of water, and I do it slowly.

I hate towels. They feel horrible and I feel like throwing up just typing about it. So usually I don't use one.

I'm a clean freak, and at least one and up to three showers per day (depending on the weather and what kind of work or play I do that day), are a MUST for me.

Not myself, but someone with AS I know has issues with having showers/baths...though they seem to get through them and have excellent hygiene to boot. :)

Yes. Right now I'm not even sure when the last time I showered was. It just seems like too much hassle to take the time to take the rack out of the tub, get undressed, actually take the shower, dry off, and then get dressed again and put the rack back in the tub.

I used to hate showers when I was younger and instead took a bath every morning. I got up an hour early just so I could soak in hot water for a while. But when I moved into my own apartment I only had a shower cabin, so I was forced to come to terms with it.

I bought a showerhead with several different spray options and used a wide-angled rain spray setting with very light water pressure, and to my surprise I discovered that I loved showering. It was just the high water pressure of the simple showerhead at my parent's place that gave me sensory issues and made showering outright painful.

Thought provoking thread.
Seems like a mix of ASD sensory issues, OCD, and even the repercussions of trauma in the responses.

I can't always be bothered to have a bath. We don't have a shower in our house, so I only have the choice of either having a bath or having a quick strip wash in the sink. But I prefer to wash in the bath. But once I get in the bath, I don't know when to come out. I sometimes sit there, staring into space, thinking things over, and worrying about tomorrow. Then I get ready to get out, but then don't, and I sit there for a while, plucking up the courage to actually get out of the bath.

I can't wait 'til the summer, when I can get too hot to want to be in the bath and can open the window and let the lovely cool summer evening air dry me off, and actually enjoy it after being sweaty from the daytime, and then feeling cool when I get into bed afterwards.

I love to swim and to go sailing, overall I love the ocean type of water. I would love to have a swimming pool and an immersion type pool that I have mentioned in another post.
When it comes to showers/baths I do have issues tho.
I don't like soap bars, they are extremely annoying and slippery. I only like body wash.
The first second water touches my body I always cringe.
There is no way on earth that I could become the type that wakes up in the morning and jumps in the shower, I'd rather die than have water over me first thing in the morning. I like to shower in the afternoon.
I like taking baths but in english bathtubs, standard size american bathtubs are so shallow and short that it doesn't feel right thus I am not taking baths now that I live in America.

I really like water! Especially taking baths! It feels so comfortable on my skin!

I can't stand it afterwards though.. need to dry myself fast and blow dry my hair with the dreadful noise that it makes!

Certain bathrooms scare me, especially ones built in the late 40s to 70s, and so does mould. If the bathroom is ok then showering doesn't worry me it's more of a hassle than anything.

Do I find it difficult? Absolutely not, I adore water - I love swimming, hot tubs, and particularly showers. I find it disappointing to leave. It's a great place for me to think because there's no one else around and I can just mull things over without having to worry about someone asking, "What are you thinking about?" or asking me some other question.

This is me. Water is probably the most calming thing for me.

However, I hate being wet when I'm not in the water...so, as soon as I step out of the shower, I'm miserable. I just want to insta-dry and be in warm, soft clothes. The same thing goes for getting out of the pool, or being out in the rain. I could sit IN water all day long, but it's the water that soothes me, not being wet. I don't like being wet; I just don't notice that I'm wet when I'm in the water, if that makes any kind of sense.

As such, I don't tend to shower every day, unless I'm going out somewhere and want to look "presentable"...the thought of having to get out of the shower dripping wet afterwards is enough to keep me from getting in, even though the shower itself is one of my favorite things. :?

This description matches me rather well too. Though I'm not miserable when I get out, just unable to do anything more than sit browsing the web.
