I've been working on this from the alternative health angle: Candidiasis is another disorder co-morbid with Asperger's and Autistic Spectrum Disorders. One long-term effect of candidiasis is "leaky gut syndrome", in which your large intestine is working so poorly that the lining breaks down and lets peptides (big clumps of food molecules) escape the digestive system. This means peptides enter your bloodstream where your immune system perceives and attacks them as foreign substances, thus developing food sensitivities (not true allergies) and weakening the immune system so it can't fight off the candida or repair the intestinal walls. So you end up in a vicious cycle of poor health.
In my case, I first attacked the candida overgrowth with an herbal remedy and a diet low in simple carbohydrates. Now I've started taking supplements that are supposed to help the large intestine heal and function properly: Gamma oryzanol, L-theanine, MSM/glucosamine, and borage oil. I started a week ago and have already noticed a huge improvement in my digestion, energy level and mental clarity.
