I think a lot of the time, the insecurity issues' roots that go back to childhood experiences.

Parents often don't give us the attention we need, and in case of children with Autism or Asperger's, we sometimes feel that way more strongly because we have a harder time connecting with them. And because we have fewer relationships with people other than our parents, we often need more attention from them than the average person. With time, we get used to not getting the attention we need, and these issues disappear until one day they begin to manifest themselves later in our lives when we start trying to socialize.

I think that it's only natural for people on the spectrum to ponder how life relates to them in order that they may get a better grip on this thing that often seems so foreign.

Lol, by making this thread you're being even more "self-centered".

Aimless, you shouldn't really be surprised by this. AS, being a form of Autism (read "SELF-ism"), is partly all about self.

It is in great part a "ME! ME! ME!" condition. It feels like that because that's exactly what it IS.

No need to feel ashamed or apologize for it IMHO. It's part of who you are as much as it is everyone else here.

Maybe if you go far enough into self centrism you can come out the other side.

In my opinion, the act of posting here indicates an attempt to connect to others who can relate to you and to whom you can relate. Therefore it cannot be all about you, instead, it's all about us? Just a thought.

Aimless, I think of you as someone who helps others a lot. Perhaps you deserve some attention every once in a while...
