A psychiatrist. He isn't an ASD specialist.

Okay, thanks everyone :)
I guess I'll just make an appointment with my primary doctor and hope I can get a referral. It's hard to get myself to go, but it'll help my son to know his mommy understands and it right there with him.

Who diagnosed you?
Was it your primary doctor? A specialist? The state you live in?

I want to go in, but unsure of who to initially contact. My son was diagnosed by the state, but I want to avoid the state as best I can. I've had enough of them. lol

A psycho-didactic(=learning disabilities diagnoser, diagnosed me with DCD) & a neuropsychologist (diagnosed my ADD) suspected "communicational issues". The second had a differential diagnosis of DCD+ADHD+LD/NVLD/AS. I STILL don't know which one I have, nor think I ever will. I have many, many sympthoms of each, but grew out of my routine and monotonous voice and telling anyone possible about my odd obsession about some crap on TV (I admit, I used to think Southpark's crap. :D ), so no one knows, or ever will know.

A psychiatrist who specializes in autism and five others that are some autism specialists. at the end they was all like 100% that I did have it. And they called my eye contact fake.

A Neuropsychologist. She specializes in ASD, usually for children. She also does it for Adults if they need an evaluation. Her skills includes communicating with sign language, which was fantastic for me as I am deaf.

I recieved a Dx while in hospital - they had given me a medication that did not respond properly so they kept me over night untill I had come down from the effects. While staying the night they `noticed` I had AS and asked me to fill out an assessment and talk it over with a psychiatrist who then reffered me to Autism Society of Alberta - their psychologist agreed on meeting me that it was ``obvious`` and confermed the initial Dx.

I enrolled my daughter in a baby sibling's study at a large University in TN and they confirmed my son had Autism and after 2.5 hours in the room with me and my son the psychologist who specialized in Autism/AS told me I'm on the spectrum somewhere and so is my son. She also noted I have an unusually warm and close relationship with my son. Later the team that is tracking my daughter's development gave me these(stupid) parental surveys that screen for depression and they discovered I have "intense interests" and I'm "solitary" "a loner" and "anti social." They decided that I needed to be formally screened for Autism/AS and 3 weeks later I enrolled in their sensory study that they found it a week later. I was then positively identified as having AS. As for the daughter they told me to bring her back in a year and if her unique behaviors continue she will need to be reevaluated next year.
