Well I didn't know of "this" last year but I had went vegan just for the heck of it. I'm slightly lactose intolerant anyway. I lost like 5 pounds and started liking some new veggies during that time but I never felt any better around people. In fact it just made people who already know me treat me like an even bigger weirdo and want to argue with me about food. Silly because I wasn't telling them what to eat.

Dairy seems to agitate stomache problems and mental problems for me.....
I try and avoid it...

Been dairy free for over 1 1/2 years. Been gluten free for a few months now. No difference at all as far as behaviours, anxiety etc. I briefly had a better behaved GI system for 2 or 3 weeks, then it went back to it's usual upset state.

I try to avoid a lot of dairy, a small amount in my tea is OK, but I use soya milk at home. My main reason is for a gut disorder which has never been properly diagnosed. By process of elimination of coeliac, Crohn's, etc, I was told I had IBS (surprise surprise). Also, I had gallstones at a ridiculously young 30yrs, wasn't overweight and was vegetarian, consuming very little dairy. Anyway, the docs never even looked at dairy or foods other than gluten, but I'm positive I don't tolerate dairy well. I had a milky cappuccino last week and, 15 minutes later, needed a bathroom urgently. Like others have said, my obvious food issues just make me seem even weirder and I'm sure some think I'm a hypochondriac or attention seeker.

I don't think the GF/CF diet helps everyone, only a small percentage. I personally am only dairy free... but being a vegetarian... I struggle to eat anything and so cutting gluten out AS WELL would limit my diet to the occasional shoot of asparagus... I truly would have Asparagus syndrome! (sadly laughs at own joke...)

I can't say I noticed a huge difference in terms of my autistic symptoms after cutting out dairy but it cleared up my IBS completely and for the first time in years I could go a whole day and only poop once!! ! (sorry too much info!).

I still suffer terrible gas though so maybe that is the gluten... Like I said though, no gluten = no food for me!
