Who did Strauss have in mind when he wrote the book? Neurotypicals?
Its possible to say that Strauss was Neurotypical before he decided to dig into this community of pick up artist. In the book he uses plenty of stuff that doctors recommend people with Aspergers pick up like Neuro-Linguistic Programming. I really recommend the book because it shows the up side and downside of using such people ‘tools’.

Must have been real hard keeping your alcoholism under wraps & out of site especially with the job you have.
Very few alcoholics manage to do anything even remotely approaching "keeping it under wraps & out of site." When you can't do anything without a drink in your hand, people tend to notice after a while. (Not a long while, as it turns out.) Most lawyers are pretty big drinkers; but, in the end, most are not alcoholics. So, I usually went too far even for the company I kept. Sure, it got noticed. But, so long as I was productive -- and somehow I usually was -- it was ignored.

Do you take anything to help you with coming off alchol?
There are supposed to be some "anti-addiction" medications out there. But, my experience was that they didn't help *at all* -- and most addiction doctors are coming to that conclusion, I think. I was seeing one only because I was *also* stopping all Xanax use, and that can be extremely dangerous (that is, life-threatening) to do without medical supervision.

Was that what you were taking the Xanax for?
No, I'm pretty sure that it would be incredibly irresponsible for a doctor to prescribe Xanax to an alcoholic to somehow make recovery a little less painful or shocking or whatever. Rather, I was taking 6 or 7 mg of Xanax a day on top of somewhere between a pint and a quart of hard alcohol daily. (Quantity would vary depending on when I passed out every night.) Not pretty, but those are the facts. Would you believe me if I told you I was pretty much a zombie for *many* years???

I'm confused someone else has a similar story or do I sound like someone else? I'm not a female either, seem to get perceived as one quite often online, not entirely sure why.

Yeah of course I'd believe you.
