In gym glass, I used to run away whenever the ball came my way.

I flinch a lot, the funny thing is I don't panic all that much, I just flinch.

Wow, I thought I was the only one! Based on the poll results, that's clearly not the case. I do tend to flich when there's a sudden loud noise, when someone approaches me unexpectedly, when someone makes a sudden move near me, when inanimate objects are thrust at me, that sort of thing. In junior high, my peers use to shove school books and other similar objects close to my face, just to watch me flinch. Presently, I'm working with preschoolers, and over the years, I've encountered a few children who have picked up on this, and would jump around and make a lot of noise when I was trying to lead an activity just to see my reaction.
My junior high peers should have known better than to treat me that way, and I'm still angry about the various ways they bullied me.
I don't blame the preschoolers. Simple physical comedy is quite entertaining to that age group, and I unfortunately do look quite comical when I flinch. This is an issue I'm working on, as that does sometimes interfere with my effectiveness in the preschool classroom, and I would like to stay in this field for a number of reasons.
So, yeah, I'm very much a flincher, and it can be problematic.

I flinch at anything and everything. Drives my boyfriend crazy when I do it while he's trying to affectionate (i.e. hugging, kissing). And my friends tend to laugh at me and joke that I must've been abused as a kid (not true).

Also, does anybody else flinch while driving? Sometimes I will when theres a car passing me.

I can't stand animated avatars, and this one was particularly disruptive..

Daniel Radcliffe is a bit of a flincher too. Or is that a twitcher? Maybe both.

I think Radcliffe might be on the spectrum. There was a video of him singing the entire "Chemical Elements" song by Tom Lehrer, and he's a huge music geek as well.

I flinch all the time. Also I yelp at loud noises.

I flinch in my dreams. Seriously. If I have a nightmare where, say, someone tries to grab me, I fall off a building, etc. etc. etc., I'll usually flinch and wake up. :?

I flinch at loud noises. I thought it was interesting that I noticed Dan Akroyd flinching/blinking when he fired his pistols in Grosse Point Blank. I don't think I had ever seen anyone else do that before in a movie. Outside of movies I assumed (and generally still assume) everyone does.

andy robinson [the guy who played the sniper "scorpio" in "Dirty Harry"] had a severe problem with flinching at the noise and recoil of a gun, so before shooting began, he had to submit to firearms training with a therapist who helped him suppress the flinching reflex.
