It's definitely my mom. There's lots of Asperger's on her side of the family. She may even be an Aspie herself.

I think my mom. There are several hints make me think she may be, as well as one of her brothers.

I think i would have to say both, my dad has traits and so does my mum
but on my mum's side her father has very strong traits as does 1 auntie and 3 uncles. On my dads side i would say my nana has traits to, though i dont really know her well enough.

Definitely my dad's side. All males and most females on his side have AS traits. One cousin diagnosed with autism, another I am positive has aspergers.

If I do have AS, it would be from my mother. There are a couple people on her side of the family that are aspie-ish too.

I don't think there's any autism in my family history, and never considered heredity as being involved. I think autism and Asperger's are issues of happenstance, and are not caused, induced, worsened or lessened by anything. Maybe I'm a bit over-zealous on this, but I just hate it when people try to point fingers and lay blame for things in our lives. After all, they just proved that the whole immunization/autism link is a big fat fraud designed to hurt the biomedical industry. I have done much better with my own life, but focusing on my own growth and advancement, and not dwelling on whose fault it is that anything is difficult, or wrong, etc. I move on!

It was my father. He would rather cut out his tongue than admit it, but he has it, too. It may also have something to do with being from a part of Chicago with lots of industrial polutants.

For me it's less about blaming anyone, and more about understanding how traits can be passed on (biology was one of my special interests...even majored in it prior to switching). It's just one of those things about understanding where you come from and recognizing what, for so many years, many never have.

I don't think anyone here is blaming. But there does seem to be a strong genetic link. Maybe it skipped a generation in your family, I can't say. Both my parents seem touched by the autism stick and that's all I was saying. No blame games here.

I got my AS genetics from my mom. Her thinking is very rigid, she really doesn't have any close friends, and there are other ASC people on that side of the family. Both of my cousin's children are Autistic, my aunt is likely AS or autistic, and I really wouldn't be surprised of two of my uncles are diagnosable.

My mother. She learned to cope very well... but, she never had any friends. She was a walking dictionary. And an amazing speller. She also did shorthand in a marvelous hand. But she was very hard to talk to.

And I don't mean to have an over zealous tone, but not one person here has even implied it's their parents' fault. This isn't wild speculation- many people have parents that show traits. Heredity is more than just somebody's brain scheme.
