Online is almost as intense for me as in person. I can't do real-time, chat -IM, without getting anxious. I intently read thread after thread, too nervous to ever start a thread. I am terrified of people. I never understand why people are mean to each other on forums, or for that sake in person. I am very aware of tone, over sensitive to tone and easily frustrated. Lots of times I want to say something about it but then I'd probably have a tone too. It is hard to disagree and not have one but I'm mortified when I offend someone because it hurts me soooo much when someone snaps at me. Life is hard and confusing for me. I come here to feel some connection, read thread after thread of entries of things I live with every day. I just read 7 pages about wearing clothes over and over. I've never met anyone with my clothes issues. There is a great amount of comfort for me here, issues with food-light-sound-touch-hats-without all the confusion of the extra closeness of the next level looming. I guess in other words I am more relaxed without the other social issues being present.

Bless you, Alone. It doesn't sound easy for you, but you are persisting :)

With the tone, I have often found that when I re-read emails I got yesterday, that upset me, I find they aren't nearly as mean as I first thought. You don't seem like someone people would be mean to all the time.

Online communication was once a godsend for people like me who have difficulty communicating. Now because of the vast popularity of social networking and sites like Facebook, social networking is no longer a remedy for me but rather a place you had to walk around tippy toes because more and more NTs are communicating now through digital means. That can cause a lot of chaos like saying something you mean to be sarcastic only to offend someone instead (which is constant for everyone I presume) and now it's a new standard of bullying and mocking others leading to Facebook/MySpace suicides in younger kids.

The internet seems no longer a place to communicate but to be judged.

And for everyone else it's a place to be known and become instant stars (Youtube channels) etc. Me, I embrace the anonymousity that the internet provides though it's getting harder and harder to maintain these days.
