You took what I said too literally. 'Burning down their houses' means just overreacting, wanting to get the video pulled. I suppose I relate it to Christians who want to cancel every TV show if they get mocked too much.
And I did think you read the previous thread that was also about this where I mentioned parents of autistic children really overreacting to this video.
Where do I get off? That's personal.

And I've had death in my family. I actually was more focused on the reporter than the funeral. I suppose there was a Hamish and Andy skit called FUNerals which I wouldn't advise. It was pretty tasteless.

The reporter showed some behaviors that I probably did myself at one point or another, but never quite that bad.

At least I don't think so.

Jewish ham ban lifting is awesome! Spiral cut, smoked and honey glazed, mmm, mmm, mmm! This world would be a happier place if more people ate ham.

I don't think I said anything about pulling ads either. I expressed my opinion of the video and asked for yours. I appreciate your sharing your opinion but am frankly shocked at how quickly the rest of this community came crashing down on me with personal insults and over-reactions to the way this video made me feel. I haven't yet called anyone from the opposing camp a name or questioned their intelligence. This same courtesy was not offered to me.

I can ask the NTs in my life what they think of the video but I was especially interested in the AS viewpoint.

Oh you are faster than me. I looked in the Onion archives and found several articles mocking jews, blacks and gay people. There was also an entire section devoted entirely to foreign policy humour. All things considered, it took them a long time to get around to autistic people.

I can understand that totally. When I lost family members, it seemed like everything on TV had funeral or death jokes and they just totally were not funny at that time.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who did think the Onion video was funny though. I'd probably be a much worse reporter than that character. :lol:

Nobody made a "personal insult" a personal insult would be "MidlifeAspie is a dumbass" or "the original poster is a dumbass" or "you are a dumbass" or something like that. You obviously have issues with overreacting to generalizations and taking things personally.

The Onion makes fun of everything, and intentionally blows everything out of proportion. It doesn't really bother me. I found it somewhat funny.

Because the thread he posted is basically mocking this thread. People should be able to disagree without resorting to mocking. I don't find the onion's autism video offensive, but that doesn't mean I'm going to make fun of the OP. Plus I understand he finds it especially offensive because of the deaths in his family. We aren't all nasty here OP, I hope we don't scare you away for good!
