Your Aspie score: 155 of 200
Your neurotypical (non-autistic) score: 57 of 200
You are very likely an Aspie
Now now, don't be hasty here! Did you make sure that the spaceship has enough food supplies first? You might want to go with "Pleasure to make your acquaintance" for the optional "Yes, you're that extra food supply I need to reach the next space station alive".
Added: But yeah, as we get older we often get better at faking it. To a point where someone unfamiliar with AS may accuse you of faking your AS. Obviously I'd never do something to totally freak them out if they said that like hug them and tell them it was so nice of them to say that because it meant my mask was getting better.
I really need to think these things through, don't I? The cannibalism was going to be my solution for my future career as a lighthouse operator. In order to be blissfully alone, I'd operate a lighthouse on some desolate but not too desolate cape, and people and ships would keep disappearing from the area. It would be like a Bermuda Triangle that I generated just so I don't have to go grocery shopping quite as often.
I was actually a bit jarred to learn that most people don't mean it when they ask...
I was jarred when my therapist meant it when she asked, and it derailed me from telling her something that would have answered her question if I wasn't distracted trying to figure out what she did mean.
There's probably a lesson in that.
Isn't it her job to ask how you are and mean it?
You must write that handbook! I for one would pay for how much fun it would be to read.

I didn't write that....but I could write a handbook. Or pamphlet anyway...most books are thicker than they need to be.

Thanks for your support and insight, everyone.
Yes, she kept bringing up examples of one particular person she knew who exhibited X trait, etc. She was, in my opinion, quite narrowly focussed and not well-read on AS.
I am going to ask my AS counsellor for a better recommendation. She lives interstate, so she doesn't know anyone near where I am. Maybe I might have to travel.
Is funny, the more I thought about this psychologist's answers, the more it baffled/annoyed me. I know 3 people with diagnosed AS, and all three of them are perfectly capable of carrying on a good two way conversation - you can't even tell there is anything different there - and they all have friends, and one of them is very happily married in fact.
This woman hardly knew anything about me, nor asked the right questions. I mean, to judge someone on how many books they own - to say that because I had 100 instead of 1000 books gave me a big CROSS (as she put it), is ridiculous! This is the age of the internet. I have read COUNTLESS articles, etc, on the internet on my special interest! And I have attended many lectures/courses on it. I collect INFORMATION on it, not just BOOKS. To be able to judge me and my history in the space of one hour is impossible. When I asked her to explain why I get so obsessively interested in stuff, she just said because I am too smart for my job and need an outlet for my brain. Um, she never even knew that I am actually (trying to, if I could just stop obsessively looking into AS lol) studying a diploma, and am trying to start my own business (one where _I_ can make up my own rules and not have to deal with other people within it lol). I also am a Mum and try to run the house. My brain is EXPLODING with TOO MANY things to have to do!! I struggle with all this stuff big time. Urgh, that woman made me mad, AND I had to pay her $175, pff.
Also, if she happily says I am an intelligent person, then why wouldn't that translate into the fact that I have used my intellect to come up with many coping strategies, particularly when my special interest is the behaviour of human beings. I have learnt HEAPS. But my brain still works in a certain way. I intellectualise and analyse EVERYTHING that I do, to a certain extent of course. People who have known me better often comment on how much analysis I put into things I do and say and that it is weird.
Anyway, thanks again everyone. I will keep searching...

It was the context. She asked me how I was doing in the hallway on the way to her office, I said I was doing okay, because I've always understood that question to be small talk or social chit-chat and not anything meaningful, and I was quick enough to realize she probably didn't want me to describe how I'd spent my morning.
I now know that when therapists ask this they want actual content, although not the content I would interpret as the literal meaning of the question. It's just another thing to remember.
I also haven't had much therapy in my life. I never really thought of asking someone else for help with my problems before.

I could have written this. One of my major interests is even a cluster of related human behaviors. I intellectualize and analyze so much. It's just the best thing in the world.
Please help! I am a mom of a 6 year old boy with Asperger's. The school he attends is not very educated on Autism at all. I on the other hand understand a lot of behaviors my son exhibits and I understand the purpose and meaning behind them. My son seems to have a lot of anxiety in school. When the kids run across the gym floor and it echos, he thinks the floor is shaking. This is how he perceives the noice and of course it's magnified by 1000%, he has autism. Another thing is, he has conversations with inanimate objects or things that he makes up such as a gunk-gunk. He is very intune with peoples emotions and labels things with feelings and colors. He does not like it when people are sad or angry. He is obsessed with cactus's. showers, water, and shapes. The root of his obsession comes from experiences. For instance, his father showed him a cactus and he has been constructing them with K'nex, drawing them on paper and cutting them out ever since. The cactus's have feelings and colors. He hoards leaves and twigs and puts them in my car. He also puts them in his bookbag and his coat pockets. It seems that he is using the inanimate objects to show his own feelings. His father and I are divorced and all the new girlfriend and him do is fight when my son goes to his house for the every other weekend visitation. Three teachers have come and gone in his classroom. My son is the only child who is verbal in the class as well, which I am sure if the other children were verbal they would be exhibiting some of the same behaviors. All in all, the school is extrememly concerned with the obsessions my son has and the fact that they are hindering his ability to learn in school. What they don't understand is that every behavior has a function and he is not schizophrenic. Could someone please shed some light on this situation? These people are making my son out to be a crazy person when he is not. School is very stressful for him, he has a lot of anxiety and this is his way of dealing with it. I am looking into changing his school as well to a school that specializes in autism where he will be accepted and also where they are knowledgeable in FBA, autism etc. I can guarantee once he goes to another school, the only correspondence or meeting there will be, will be for his IEP. This is so ridiculous! Please respond and advise me if my son's behaviors are something to be concerned about.
I think you need to move this to the Parents' Forum, where you'll find many people who have had experiences similar to yours. For myself (I'm not a parent) I'd say that if you can find a school that specializes in autism, get him in there.
Maybe the first thing you need is a proper diagnosis - is there a children's hospital near you? They usually have an autism dept. You'd need a referral from your family doctor. It's best not to let the school do the Dx, because then it will follow your son forever, even if they're wrong.
- a repeated movement over and over that someone would notice within every hour of your day (face grimacing for example)?
- strange bodily movements that your parents will have noticed you had since you were little?
- not having any friends your entire Life?
- not being able to engage in a two-way conversation with turn-taking, eye contact, etc as observed by an external person?
- not noticing that your own reaction to a social rule not being followed was probably a bit over the top?
I dont fit any of these
