As for the doctor who slapped the "unsalvageable" label on you (and you're right, that is a horrible label to apply to a human being), such a "doctor" should not be practicing medicine at all. 
The rest of your post... I agree with you, I'm not disputing anything you say, but the reality behind those statements, society's attitude, really makes me wish I could spit fire. And corner certain people to show off my ability.
