Your Aspie score: 163 of 200
Your neurotypical (non-autistic) score: 50 of 200
You are very likely an Aspie

I have never been to a psychiatrist, but I have several aspie traits.

HOWEVER, I can perceive people's emotions, and I can understand some gestures, facial expressions.

The problem is that I might have Schizoid Personality Disorder instead, not AS.

Schizoids however are criticism proof, and tend to be narcissistic. I am not. But I understand schizoids. People
are ass**les! I understand someone who may want to stay away from people.

On another matter (I am reluctant to start a new thread) just on this minor point. It's on stimming, which I have only just found out about today. I was home alone today and caught myself flapping my arms madly like a baby bird trying to take off. I've done this kind of thing for as long as I can remember and thought nothing of it, it just seems quite natural. Of course, if other people are around, there's no way I'd do such a thing... but I'm just wondering - NT's do not do this?

I suppose they can, but I gather it would be pretty unusual.

I keep identifying more and more stimmy behaviors I do and have done for a long time, a lot of them in front of other people. It's amazing what I'll start and not even realize it during a conversation (today, I started tapping a metal spoon on a metal chair back and didn't realize it until I was asked to stop - how oblivious am I? Jesus).

Hi, I'm the artist formerly known as el_salvador. Decided to change to reflect how I felt about myself better.

Heeeenyway... I'm just wondering if anyone had any thoughts about this...

I'm don't see myself getting an official diagnosis in the near future. Don't really see what it will change.

But something does seem not right about saying I have Asperger's when I haven't got the official diagnosis.

Would it be better to say that I simply have many Asperger's traits for the time being?

(Mind you, I'm just talking about discussions with myself at the moment; I don't plan on in including it in introductions!)

Self-diagnosis is socially acceptable here. In other places, you'd probably have to modify your approach.

I'm kind of rigid and uncompromising on that at the moment and say I have it anywhere it comes up. But I'm also seeking a diagnosis.

Well, the problem is that people thinking they have Aspergers may have schizoid personality instead.

I definitely have ADHD, but I am beginning to think I have AS too because of the things I did in my childhood and teenage
years. However, ADHD people tend to be socially awkward too.

I don't have a problem with self diagnosed people at all. It costs a lot to be diagnosed and the government won't pay for the process in many countries. In other countries, people have their rights taken away if they're diagnosed. I welcome all people to WP, as long as they have respect for others and they don't cause trouble.
