Therapist asked me to make a list of places to meet people
Sounds to me like said therapist needs to be taught "neuro-diversity" basics.
That said, places for aspies to find friends would not typically be places like sporting events, bars or any place where there are a lot of people or sensory things happening. We are to busy just trying to survive in those places. Those are more like NT places to find friends and meet people.
I see nothing wrong with having online friends. MOST of my friends are online and I will go visit many of them, or them me 1-2 times a year. PERFECT relationship IMHO. I also got networked into my local classical guitar people by attending guitar societ meetings. (I sat in those meetings for nearly 2 years before I talked to anyone though. It takes awhile for me...)
I have also picked up a random accquaintance or friend through classes at the community college. Net is... Quiet environment and shared special interest will land you a friend quicker than anything.
