The most useful resource for learning emacs is itself, and the community. It comes with a massive, huge, sprawling, enormous tutorial and help system which covers the entire Gnu system. Emacs is, other than Linux, one of the most well documented software that exists.

Outside of this built-in resource, there are sites like EmacsWiki, which are similarly vast.

Vim has its own enormous ecosystem of help resources, but vim users eat babies.

A lot of people live life off notepads, not just AS folks. You might not want to be too public about it, though, or other people will be able to see your weak link.

Sounds good, just don't forget to use it and look at it frequently (I know from experience).

If you can do it, then go ahead. I have tried that in the past, and it didn't work too well for me. My lists tend to grow really quickly, and end up with too much unnecessary stuff. That's because I tend to be a bit compulsive about such things. If you can keep it in order, go ahead.

I'm still working on finding a system that I really like, but my demands are quite high.

I'm reading this with interest, I have a detailed phone Calender and have been syncing my phone with Outlook for years, remember how basic Nokia 6110's were and before!?! But being able to sync with Outlook is great, of course now it's just as easy to sync with google calender etc.

I find to do lists too cumbersome, but will give myself calender reminders for everything, as others have said to do lists get too long and items get lost/forgotten.

I've had a look at the Gina Trapani android app for to go lists, I like it's multiple project linking, but it's a shame I can't link to my existing calender - I may download it and have a play.

Jaffacakes: check out DropBox. You can stick your calendars and todo lists there and then access them anywhere. It's great for syncing your todo lists and stuff from your computer to your phone.
