Whee, I was never psychic. When I was little, I tried to read minds and see ghosts and things... but it always failed. I think I was trying too hard.

I think my mom might be psychic sometimes. She is very intuitive and usually knows things before anyone else.

I can peer right into the human soul and look behind the mask. Give me 5 minutes and I can describe someone as well as most of their friends can. Give me three days of hanging out and I can see things I don't want to see. I currently have a strong suspicion that the girl in my tennis class was sexually abused. How I can see these things, I'm not quite sure. But sometimes I wish I could get rid of this ability, because I've met killers as well, or at the very least, people that are more than capable of killing without remorse.

My theory is psychic ability is a form of savantism. There are such people as psychic savants. I might not be good enough to be a genuine savant, but I do have this uncanny ability to know things about people before they tell me. It's strange.

I am a talent savant in music---I can play musical instruments I become fascinated with (without lessons or training).

By the time I was in high school I memorized the statistics of every roller coaster in North America without trying.

That's a little scary, but very interesting too. I don't know if I would want that kind of power... it would probably make me very paranoid!

That's pretty neat, though.

On a similar note... my mom also has the ability to get people to tell her their life story. All she does is ask "how are you?" and they will talk about anything going on in their life. Divorce, recent death in the family, etc... a lady in the grocery store burst into tears one time. I've always been really amazed by her ability.

People say that I should consider that, but I don't really like interpretation too much. I've done it before in an online setting and it tired me out pretty badly. It was a lot of work constantly going back and forth to make the information understandable.

Right now I want to be a doctor, actually... so maybe I can become a medical interpreter. That could be useful when communicating with patients from different backgrounds.

My super powers are dependent on people believing in me.

Do you mean just that other people, when they believe in, give you the confidence to do what you do?

Society teaches that if a persons self confidence is high enough that he can accomplish great things in spite of people not believing in him. This is only true to a certain degree and while this might work to accomplish everday tasks it will not work to accomplish real breakthroughs.

For example out of a all the Mathematics Fields awards that have been given during the last 100 years there has never been a single woman that ever achieved this award. This million dollar award should not be out of reach for a woman because no great physical strength is required. The problem is that society does not think that a woman is smart enough to achieve this mathematics award. No matter how hard a woman works or studies she will never achieve this great award based on her own self confidence. Once when society changes their attitudes about woman will this curse be lifted.

Being able to perceive things others don't, often in a startling degree of detail. Comes with the whole 'sensing' thing.

I see your point and I do agree that it's more difficult to accomplish anything, particularly if you don't have significant support. It's not impossible, just improbable.

I think we already are seeing some progress, though, and a shift in the people's mentality towards what women (or any other group of people) can and cannot do. Many of my science professors at university are female... even one hundred years ago that would never have been possible.

I've definitely seen your superpower in action. :D

It makes me wonder, sometimes, whether classical logic isn't just a little overrated.

i see my perception as being a superpower (and so do my housemates, coincidentally); i usually see/hear things noone else can, though it's usually painfully high/loud/bright, so this is a double-sided medal :P

also, i appear to have some kind of psychic ability; which is best described as 'kirlian vision', or the ability to sence someones kirlian aura.
this is best explained as that special 'sense' the dudes in dragonball z have; i usually notice if someone is behind me, even on the rare occasions i did not see/hear them coming at the edge of my perception, and i have a better-then-normal (for an aspie) ability to detect general mood and if someone is ill or not; my first impression on character is correct 19/20 (again, 2-sided; it causes even more anxiety in groups then a 'normal' aspie would).

thirdly i too have a feeling for music; i'm able to master a new piece we play within a day or 2 of low-practice, by just hearing it performed once or twice.
also, my tuning is almost always correct when playing with the orcestra, no matter how off-key my instument is actually tuned (when played by someone else), this combined with the fact that my embouchure (musical stamnia) is near-limitless and very fast to recover has made me the principal euphonium player without needing practice, with the 2 others spending hours a day to keep up to orchestra level.
oh, and before you ask; yes, it is a top-level orchestra; getting easy 85+/100 on the highest non-professional level.

Mine is music. Music isn't one of my obsessions, it just happens to be an interest and a huge part of my life.

I play the flute, recorder, saxophone, keyboard, I am in two choirs and I do music theory lessons.
I am grade 8 on two of the instruments which would usually take a person anything form 6 to 8 years.
It took me two years :) I just have a knack for playing the flute/recorder. The other instruments don't really come naturally to me. Teachers were astounded at my skill :D

I think it's really good having a natural talent, and say well done to anyone else here that has a 'super power'.
