You may or may not have Aspergers.
Self diagnosis from taking a few online quizzes could be a big mistake. You should seek medical advice before trying to label yourself as being an Autistic. Aspergers is just another label. Do not be quick to label/judge yourself.
I take an example and use this as an illustration to justify my position. I may come across as a fundamentalist in my posts. Maybe being a fundamentalist/absolutist is a trait of having Aspergers Syndrome.
To officially obtain a medical diagnosis of Aspergers Syndrome on the Autism Spectrum. You must tick all the boxes and provide enough evidence to the medical professional in order to be officially diagnosed/labelled as being Asperger/Autism Spectrum disorder.

I understand what you are saying. You are entitled to your viewpoint. For me, is it is not that simple. Diagnosis is not always possible or desirable. Please have a look at other recent threads that cover this issue, and you will find it elicits a wide range of opinions.
I am oficialy diangosed with autistic disorder. if I had not been diagnosied that would not change that I have autism. there is lots of people who know as much as some one diagnosied about themselves. it is arogant to think people do not reserch and get lots of knoledge before deciding this. most people on this site not diagnosed who say they have it do. they do not need soem one to tell them for them to know.
Doctor Spock from Star Trek is logical and rational character and shows no emotions/feelings at all towards his fellow Star Trek crew. Doctor Spock is the pin up boy of the typical person with Aspergers Syndrome.
Aspergers are logical and rational people who can not show feelings, express emotions or show empathy towards other people. If you can not show remorse or empathy towards others and you are a compulsive manipulative liar: you could have Aspergers Syndrome.
Aspergers are self centred it is like they are the only person in the world. Mr Bean the character played by Rowan Atkinson has Aspergers Syndrome. Mr Bean rarely talk and is self centred and does not show empathy towards other people.
You do not talk, self centred and immature. You possibly have Aspergers Syndrome.
I see where you are coming from now. And this post just confirms it.

I have been banned too frequently for my lame attempt at being a troll. I need to learn to be more subtle troll instead of being blatant obvious trolling.
I can't believe this thread is still going on. Oh, wait, I'm posting in it.

Almost certainly not Aspie, but certainly something like it

I missed that completely. Ta. I'm too gullible.
I assume you are aiming this at me?
This is a label (based on my own self DX) I have given myself for my own benefit. It explains things to me that I couldn't put a finger on relating to my own developmental issues. For instance I discovered I had speech delay problems till I was 6, but made big progress after that. I recall telling people at that age that unlike other children I came out of my mother's womb when I was 6. I honestly didn't have much memory before then.
Getting a formal diagnosis for AS at my age is pointless, there is simply no benefit. If I was a child it's different, there are therapies and possible funding that can be given to help children with AS.
Could I skip all that diagnosis stuff and just set fire to a pile of $1000 bills?
The problem with being an adult is you have to buy a diagnosis. You get zero benefits from it in America, unless I am missing some sort of job placement program and support system. You also have to participate in the mental health system.
Basically, anyone with Asperger's Syndrome will read the diagnostic criteria and tests, and know THIS IS IT almost instantly. All the struggles and frustrations of life will suddenly make sense. What does paying for a diagnosis add to that?
I could say - computer professionals really aren't serious unless they have a Master's degree. Well, I have to pay for a Master's degree, and based on my extensive research, it will add nothing to my career as a working professional.
Have Aspergers - Undiagnosed. You may or may not have Aspergers.
Unsure if you do not have it or not. More than likely you do not have Aspergers.
Sure
You forgot a fourth category
Aspergers Self DX - don't give a s**t what other people say
I love this forum.
Even when a very obvious trolling attempt occurs, everyone just takes a step back, forms a solid, logical argument and makes counter points to the original post. Yet it seems most people also actually *enjoy* doing that. So trolls that do come here end up having to spend a massive amount of effort to try and rile people up that just don't "get that" and actually enjoy the debate.
How many times has the word "logical" been used in this topic alone

Tee-hee!
You could say that collectively, even if not individually, we have a certain disarming charm.
Talking of which ...
Expelliarmus!
Got 'im.

Probably true
However one needs to set an example.
Unless you are really diagnosed there is no way for sure knowing whether or not you have Aspergers. You are either an Aspie or an NT. There is no half Aspie and half NT. AFAIK you only have Aspergers if you are officially diagnosed by a trained medical professional.
Maybe you thought you had it and declared to WP and the world you had it. Only 1 in 300 people have Aspergers. 1 in 100 have Autism. 1 in 3 Autistic people have Aspergers, regarded as a mild form of Autism.
Has anyone found out they did not have Aspergers by a medical professional?
Why do you care? What is motivating you to declare war on the self diagnosed?
Has anyone self-diagnosed then had it confirmed? Add me to that list.
Asperger's is not a mild form of autism. Can you at least get that part right? There are some people with Asperger's that are completely disabled, unable to work, drive, or function in the world at large.

Oh, for crying out loud. Compulsive lying is a trait of sociopathy, not Asperger's. 'Excessive' honesty is a trait of autism. Spock is nothing like an aspie; Data is a better fit, with his desire for normalcy and his inability to achieve it or express the emotions he feels. Going to a shrink and being DX'd does not magically give you autism. Psychiatrists are not God, whatever they'd like you to believe. About twenty thousand other things wrong that I can't be bothered with.
