What are meltdowns?
Mostly I have shutdowns, but I have meltdowns as well. Actually, I've been having meltdowns a lot more recently (though I'd been using the term "meltdown" to refer to my "shutdowns").
Sort of off topic: anyone else think the terms "meltdown" and "shutdown" are the wrong way around? When I have meltdowns, it's like my control system has suddenly switched off, but when I have shutdowns, it's like everything is slowly draining away.

I think thats a good way of putting it from a personal perspective. I'm pretty sure the terms come from an outside perspective though. If I was a NT looking at myself during a meltdown, I would liken it to a nuclear reactor failing. (Melting down) "Oh s#@t! Get out of the way!" lol
As for the shutdowns I know what your saying. I just feel depressed and lock myself away from the outside world. Once again from an outsiders perspective that could be viewed as "Shutting down physical and verbal communication"
Either way I don't really care. There just names trying to describe an entire psychological process. Doesn't matter much to me when Im attacking my math book when I don't get something haha.
