i dont think paracetamol & ibuprofen are completely redundant as they have their own effects beside pain relief - lowering temperature & anti-inflammation for example. I wish people wouldnt mix drugs together as i like to select things out myself (eg. im sensitive to codeine so those OTC pills are too strong for me, adding caffiene to paracetamol limits the choices of drink i can have and destroys any chance of sleep). But its not unknown for pills to conatin a blend of ingredients and it is a medicical product after all.
