This may have already been said (I only read the OP). I think you should bother getting diagnosed if it is limiting you in someway in your life. A lot of people are very mild and have no problems coping at all. Still would have benefitted if diagnosed as a child, more than likely, but if not, and you are not having any issues, I don't see the point of getting diagnosed as an adult. I am severe HFA, so I decided I wanted to get the diagnosis. I didn't wait for them to bring it up to me (it's too expensive!) I went for the sole purpose of getting diagnosed. As soon as the assessment is done, I will not return as I see someone for free at my university. I think if the psychologists know exactly what they are looking for, they can make a more clear assessment. If you are really mild and you do not mention it, they may never notice it either.
Mine are pretty severe. I have excessive auditory and touch issues. I have been fired from most of my jobs. I also have an 11 year old with AS (diagnosed) a 5 year old AS (soon to be diagnosed hopefully), and my 5 month old is showing signs. I am hoping with a diagnosis it will be easier for us to get some type of family therapy so we can get ahold of our home chaos.
