I'd like to contribute.

In the case of the DA artist, I don't believe what you're seeing is "worship", it's "admiration". A good colorist requires both technical skill and the ability to interpret, and the Sonic character would not be as well-loved and well-known without the dimension his colorist has added to him. The art world is cruel; to find true financial success doing something like coloring is an achievement, and offers inspiration in the form of hope to others who wish to achieve the same thing.

In the case of celebs, it's a good bit of the same thing. I just watched a youTube clip from a Danish animator and he said, roughly, that if you can capture a bit of the human condition, you needn't have polish and gloss. A little will go a long way. When it comes to entertainers, being able to capture and reflect a bit of the human condition in music, in a performance, in a particular storyline, one is creating relatability. Although it's true that it's a collaboration of the various artists combining to create the story, it's really the actor who embodies the character and/or event that the viewer relates to.

When it comes to reality stars, though, I'm afraid you're on your own. I have no good explanation for this phenomenon.

I do *like* some celebrities, and respect them. But worship is a waste of time and energy. We're all human and humans are inherently f****d up. For as long as humans have existed, there has never been an "innocent time", and for as long as they do exist, there never will be. Forget about any sort of utopia.

People make fun of me for being so clueless when it comes to pop culture. I like music, but I have no idea what the singers look like. I just don't care. As for tabloid drama, why would someone be that interested in someone they don't even know? I think that's a lot more strange than not caring.

I don't worship celebrities, but there are a handful who I greatly admire and am enamored with because of their work: Tim Burton for his artistic visions, Johnny Depp because of his acting, and Helena Bonham Carter because of her acting, her beauty and her involvement with Tim Burton.

There's a Tim Burton convention my friends and I recently went to at LACMA in Los Angeles. It showed a lot of his work and there was an overpriced gift shop. Hehe.

I'm a lot happier crushing on Miranda Cosgrove than I've been in like 6 years. I think members who've seen most of my post sense I joined WP would say I'm better off because of it

I heard about it on the news one day. I want to go so badly! I've even had dreams at night about going to it. But I can't because there is just too much going on in my life right now. I can't go myself, because I can't drive and I don't have a job to pay for it. :(

I'm not depressed, as frustrated or upset about things. I'm not ranting or complaining on the L&D section like I was

Do the "celebrities" have to be real or human? When I was a teen while other girls were acting like lunatics over NKOTB, I was obsessed with Garfield the Cat. I had posters and plushies and books of him all over my room. I draw cartoons myself and back then I didn't care about much about anything that wasn't out of a cartoon or comic strip. Today I think nearly all human "celebrities" have nothing I want to celebrate about, they are drug addicts, nymphos, liars, cheaters, adulterers, anorexic, bulimic horrible role models, and have no real talent.
It's disgusting and utterly shameful and I weep for the world.

Perhaps I am being a hypocrite because I was/still am the exact same way with Timon from The Lion King. Recently, it's switched to Tails the fox/kitsune, Sonic the hedgehog and Sally Acorn. As I said, if they were real creatures, I'd probably just adopt them as my pets. I don't craw all over myself when I watch Lion King or Sonic SatAM. I always perfered cartoon animals to real life people. I feel so deprived not knowing about Sonic SatAM as a kid. I would have loved Sally. Not only because she was a talking animal, but because she isn't the sterotypical prissy, girly girl princess and isn't always protrayed as the damsel in distress or a bumbling bimbo as most female characters tend to be. But then my special intrest would probably be chipmunks instead of meerkats.

I can't even name one celebrity. That is how much I don't care.

Does Chuck Norris count as a celebrity? I love Chuck Norris jokes.

Celebrity worship is in my opinion, a sign of stupidity. I don't have a problem with people worshipping celebs, I just think its stupid and pointless. It achives nothing really.

Its good to have a hero, its a shame that people choose idols like Tom Cruise, over substantial archetypes worth aspiring to

Nikola Tesla is one of my heros

Who's Nikola Tesla? I've heard the name, but overall, I'm unfamiliar.
