I've never noticed this as an overarching phenomenon. In fact, it seems to me that avatars tend to follow the subject of the board as much if not more than anything else.

I think they may have a rule in place that requires avatars be only of current or past political figures, so maybe that's not quite a fair example...but nobody seems all that upset about it, either.
I'll bet most people could figure out purely from avatars which board is which. And there seems to me a certain uniformity on both sites, though I'd be hard pressed to say exactly what it was on the SF board.
Besides, how can you determine who's NT and who's on the spectrum from reading a few posts? Never mind how you would separate both groups from folks with a disorder like major depression, ADHD, etc. I'm not saying it can't be done, just that I don't see how it could be.
