it's a fruit turnover disrespected by apple-haters. rim shot. ok, bad joke. sorry
if you look in the dictionary, you will find my name and general description as the definition for "pushover," IOW a timid somebody who is easily cowed by bullies of all stripes. when i was a little kid, i was sitting in a swivel chair at a neighbor's house, and that neighbor's 5-year-old proto-bully child set upon me and tried to spin me dizzy-silly while i was sitting in their living room swivelling easy chair, so i put my feet down and stopped before i got dizzy, and he shrieked at me like i had just plucked-out his family jewels, and cried piteously, and when that didn't work he screamed "MOMMMMMMMMMMYYYY!" - and because 1] i couldn't stand the sight of somebody crying, and 2] since i knew that the little brat could do no wrong in his [somewhat] unhinged mother's eyes [and of whom i was spooked], i relented and let the little thug spin me silly. now THAT [me] is a example of a pushover.

I'm a bit of a push over but I do say no to people who push me too far. When someone asks me to do something I try to work out if that person would show me the same kindness if I asked it of them. I don't mind doing nice things for nice people but try to stay away from people who are likely to take advantage.

Also if someone is making me feel uncomfortable I usually just ignore them or walk away and that usually gets the message accross.

I'm not usually a pushover. I don't have any great skills in reading people, so I just err on the side of caution and cynicism. I'm very polite about it but I don't trust people much and I won't take big risks with them. Of course I lose out on a lot of opportunities, but without mind-reading skills I don't see I have much choice.

The truth is, in high school, a lot of guys are just a**holes and won't respect anything except a punch in the nose. When you're not good with words and you don't have friends to back you up, sometimes fighting IS your best option, because it tells people that you can be pushed too far. I would ignore any words people say to you but push off any kind of touching or throwing things at you with force. Nobody has the right, ever, to stand in your way, touch you or toss things at you against your will.

This.
