It's been so long since I've had a meltdown, but when I do, they're definitely external. I scream, hit and bite others, punch walls or anything around me, throw vases, etc. Like I said though, it's been a long time since I've had a meltdown, but the situation can turn bad very, very quickly.

meltdowns inside my head, happen often. and i thought i was the only one.
like when someone takes advange of me, it won't happen at the moment; i'd of course act like myself. but in the next few minutes i'd day dream about fliping out (doing something evil) then when i return to reality sadly, i know i'd never do anything like that :(

My last external meltdown was around the age of 13.

When I have one nowadays, I usually cry and become very withdrawn. I've never pictured myself acting out anger during an internal meltdown - I usually try to calm myself and focus on relieving the anger itself. I resort to self-loathing more often than I stay angry at another person.

I don't act out in a meltdown. I have it in my head. Then I sort of shut down. Does this happen to you? Because from most of the info I read I learned that meltdowns are sort of violent.

I've been having meltdowns like this as well as the "acting out" kind for most of my life. I would say this kind is more predominant, and the "acting out" kind was a reaction to something my ex did to me (she provoked me until I actually got openly angry at her - to her mind, my lack of emotional affect was a lack of humanity or something, I don't know). After that, I acted out more, usually in private, although I try very hard not to, and they seem to have tapered off.
