When you was a child, did you ever do this with your toys?

I didn't know about it then, but I strongly suspect I might have done something like that... only it probably would have been something to make the AS doll look like the normal one, or to have the other dolls accept her.

I guess in a way they all had Asperger's, because instead of making them interact on the basis of the ridiculous families I'd put them into (one Barbie was the mother and all of my dozens of others were the children, almost all the time) I'd just have one go off and do something on her own... I think in particular I liked to imagine that my extra-flexible gymnast Barbie was a superhero. She didn't save people so much as she just flew around and did tricks, though.

My daughter was diagnosed at 8 and is 11 now. She loves role playing. Her favorite toy for role playing is her LPS collection, but she also uses farm animals, little dolls, toy story 3 characters, etc. I have never seen her playing about AS. She sometimes films herself playing (to upload it in YouTube) and I have seen some of the tapes (I help with editing) and I havent seen anything like that. But I dont think she perceives AS like the big thing. We are a family of 3 and 2 Aspies, and we have always tried to talk about AS in a natural/possitive way. The little times she talks about AS is trying to use it as a token (I cannot because I have AS, or please tell the teacher I have AS becayse hes being too nasty with me, and so on). Of course I do not let her use AS as an excuse. She can, and if she wants the teacher to be good to her she needs to stop talking in the classroom.

Anyway, I think my toys were all autistic. Even on the rare occasions when I did treat them as people and not objects, they never interacted with each other.

I didn't play with toys, I played with imaginary friends--and they're all AS too. Even now with a few NT characters, every friend I have is an Aspie. It rocks. XD

Or assisted mating. either way you look at it. I definitely didn't rape any of them, though.

That's what I'll tell the police officer it was the next time I'm picked up.

Your sentence suggests you've been picked up for rape before?

Yes, it suggests that, but I was joking. You'll have to excuse my sense of humor. It's both very deadpan and very black.

I was joking, too. :P I was going to add a ":P", but thought it was more amusing if it was serious.

That's another problem of mine. I rarely use emoticons. I really should.

I didn't know about AS when I was little, and only recently was suggested to that I might actually have it, so in regards to making "AS toys", no. But I do remember that I rarely played with the toys I had, I usually would keep them in boxes and then take them out, line them up in different patterns and just look at them when I was "playing". I spent a lot of time building with LEGOS (which I don't really categorize as a toy as LEGOs are certainly something bigger) and playing video games, though; just that the rest of my physical toys seemed to be objects to admire and take care of rather than to personify / smash into each other.

I overuse them at times. They really help get your point across, though! :)
