My shoes have laces, and usually I do things the lazy way and just slip my feet into my already-tied shoes. I CAN tie my own shoes though, yes.

Puma has really cool looking velcro shoes... Or at least they did a few years ago, and they are severely comfy.

I wear elastics laces, so you don't have to tie them. You can buy a normal pair of shoes and then buy the laces separately. I can tie my shoes, but I find it easier not to because they seem to become untied easily.

Freak-Z, hating Crocs seems to be more of an NT thing (following the crowd), however, aspies seem to have different opinions of "good shoes" and "bad shoes". I have sensory issues with flip-flops, (the kind where plastic thing goes between your toe) but that's all some aspies will wear!

My dad makes me have a pair of Crocs in the house at all times. They are actually the only kind of shoes that don't hurt my feet at all. I wear sneakers, but they hurt my feet if I wear them for too long. All other shoes hurt my feet after 2 hours, apparently, I am supposed to be able to wear pretty shoes for very long periods of time.

I do not get it either. Yes, they are funny looking, but they are so comfortable and easy to clean! I prefer a comfortable shoe to a nice looking uncomfortable one. I like high heels, but I do not use them because they hurt my feet and make my legs and back hurt. My Aspie husband and daughter like their crocs, and I love them, too.

Me too! My mom thinks that this is kind of odd, but it's true for me.

I do not have problems tying my shoes, although I didn't figure out how until I worked very hard on learning it in first grade. Earlier than many on here, I know, but later than "normal."

I am puzzled by your inability to find good looking velcro shoes. I simply went to ebay (I was looking in men's shoes, so that may make a major difference) and got 2,687 hits when I searched "velcro." I'll agree that many of them are indescribably hideous , but there were also cool shoes from Vans, Reebok and Puma priced between 15 and 50 bucks, up to very high fashion (and price!) stuff from Lacoste, Moschino, Gucci and Prada.

Shoes laces regularly come undone and you are more likely to trip on them and fall over.
Velcro, slip ons or sandals are better than shoes with laces.

I hate shoe laces. They always come undone. I have, however, found a way to work around this. I tie them once and make sure the knot can't be pulled apart. Then, when I go to put on and take off my shoes, I don't retie them every time. I just leave the knot there.

I can but I don't! >< I tie a knot and cut the laces....

And how did that happen?

I think I would die if they stopped selling trendy/girly velcro trainers!

The only bad thing is they cost approximately $125 and they ship free because they cost more that $124, but at least they exist!

Converse makes some reasonably decent looking velcro shoes. I'm wearing a pair as we speak.

I fought my kindergarten teacher for weeks about learning to tie shoes. I told her "There is no point to this, I have Velcro, duh." She didn't get it and eventually I gave in an learned. The things the NTs hold so important baffle me. Like why do people take the training wheels off of bikes. They aren't hurting anything.

I'm 25, and I can't tie my shoes. My dad has been trying to teach me, but it's like my hands just can't do it. I only wear the shoes that need to be tied when I take my dogs for a walk, and my dad ties them for me. The rest of the time, I just wear Crocs.

I taught myself to tie my own shoelaces when I was 3yrs (I still remember the Eureka! moment). I had a few friends at school that I don't think really liked me, but they knew I could tie their laces.
