I think it is fairly possible for families to be on the spectrum. A common theme is for a child to be diagnosed first, then one of the parents realises that their child's behaviour is reminiscent of their own behavior at the same age. They go for an assessment as well, and voila - suddenly there are two people with ASD in the family.
This is my story,, my son has PDD-NOS...after looking him I saw it in myself.. then released my dad for sure was aspie,,,my mom may have,, and all my biological relatives on my dads side.. so, yes it is quite possible..Ive worked with many autistic students who had siblings on the spectrum,, i dint know the parents but id wager at least one was.
