I seriously wonder if girls who have full blown aspergers are really being told they are mild because the doctor thinks they are cute.

Are you trying to troll? Or are you really that dumb?

I'm a girl with AS - PM me if you want to know anything! :D

But honestly, I've never met anybody IRL with AS so I have nobody to compare myself to to make an accurate judgement about if I'm mild or not. When I was diagnosed I was just told it was AS, not whether it was mild or not. I'm guessing it is, though. :P

It does seem a little odd to me, too. Having low social skills isn't the only feature of autism. I wonder if there's a specific social skills learning disability that's related to autism, but not quite on the spectrum...

No I am just really that blunt. I have learned the majority of the population REALLY ARE that superficial! I also can't stand it when someone tries to call someone an idiot online and can't even write intelligently.

I often see "Your an idiot!"

IT'S YOU'RE AN IDIOT.

In your case your sentence should have been "Are you trying to troll or are you really that dumb?"

That is if you really wanted to have any right to call someone dumb at least come across as smart yourself.

I'm 23 and a girl and I have autism. I don't have mild Asperger's, but if you want to talk, I'm around a lot.

I remember the days when geeks were not diagnosed as such. They had just very few things in common with actual autism where as people who are just told that they have aspergers do have alot of autism traits just not as severe as classic autism.

Well, in a very real way, you CAN'T be "high functioning aspergers" because if you WEREN'T HIGH FUNCTIONING, it wouldn't be AS. Saying high functioning aspergers is like saying a mammalian human. If you weren't a mammal, you wouldn't be human. The DSM says SPECIFICALLY NO significant cognitive issues besides social.

Well, I DO have the sensory issues, stims to a degree I guess, have had hyper focus, and certainly have social issues. If that sounds like geek, oh well. I don't DRESS like a geek, I don't have a weird voice or weird laugh. I am not always trying to be "cool", etc... I don't play games, or LARP. Otherwise, I guess I AM a geek. I have been called one in a complimentary way. c'est la vie!

I`m a girl with mild aspergers too. But I^m a little bit younger. Just fourteen.
I now were at ...let me think... oh yes, at five psychologists. They never thought the same.
The first said I were just depressed, the second said I would have mild apsergers and asd, number three was great she had aspergers too and always said there were no real Aspies and Autis but there would be an aspergers spectrum like some guys have mild aspergers, some more and some very strong. In the time with her I identified me much with aspergers. I found a good friend with aspergers too and I were proud about "my" syndrome.
But then I came in a clinic and they always... ok, that`s not so importan.
Number five and actuell is the meaning I would be a normal person without aspergers and asd. Just because I would be to nice, really not ligneous and wouldn`t have special intressts. It`s like a blow in my face when somebody says I couldn`t be an aspergers.
In the first time I won`t be some and now I want to be and I know I am some. It`s just that feeling who says me I am an asperger.
Yeah, that`s my story.
I would really like to talk with some other asperger girls- I just know boys with some.

At first, I questioned whether or not I had AS. Then I thought I was mild. I'm really only beginning to realize that I'm far from mild in my impairments. Still, I haven't much of an idea how my level of severity compares to everyone else here.

I'm not a female, but my story can be found here.

I am not diagnosed, but I am 99% sure I have mild Asperger's as well. I can get along well enough- to the point that people just think I'm "weird" or "unique"- but I don't really relate or connect to others. I am almost 32 yrs. old and never been in a relationship. My brain is trapped somewhere in adolescence. I'm not good with empathy or showing my emotions in a proper way. My special interests take over my life and I am extremely picky about food and clothing and routine etc.

Autism is a spectrum disorder. Of course there will be folks around who don't really seem autistic, but it still affects their life and socialization.

I think women are just as likely to be Aspie and science is very slow on realizing this.
